LUCAS (APUTSIAQ) IGNATIUSSEN
29 - BLESSED - MALE - PALKIA/ANTI-PRAVUS - TRAINER/HERO OF PALKIA
ABOUT THE PLAYER:
OOC Account: Peanut
What do you wish to be called?: Nope.
Other Characters: Salvidor and Sparky
Link to your previous character: Salvidor. I know he's not accepted yet and I've not posted with him yet, but I thought I'd go ahead and partially put this up. Lucas is nowhere near done, as you might be able to tell.
BASIC INFORMATION:
Full Name: Lucas (or Aputsiaq) Ignatiussen
Nickname(s): Diamond. As an explanation of his two names: Lucas is an Anglican name that he was given by his mother at the same time as his grandmother gave him the Innoha name Aputsiaq. He uses Lucas in most situations, but some people, most notably Palkia, call him Aputsiaq instead.
Gender: Male
Age: 29; appears 16
Allegiance: Anything Palkia says, goes. He’s very Anti-Pravus, though he’s mostly Anti-Team Galactic.
Occupation (Position) : He's Palkia's "hero", a position meaning that he does whatever his chosen Lady Palkia asks of him. This is a self-imposed position, though he and Palkia are actually closer than is normal. He'll do many other odd jobs, though, if he has to earn money.
Species: Blessed Chosen of Palkia
Powers:
- BLESSED: Lucas has, importantly, been blessed by Palkia. Not only is he in Palkia's favor, but he is actually surprisingly close to her, almost as a friend. This favor alone might be considered a power, as it means that contacting Palkia is not only completely possible but actually quite likely if he tries. However, as he considers himself more of a protector of Palkia than anything else, he is disinclined to actually try this.
- SLIPSPACE: This is the main portion of the power granted to Lucas. Using his hands, Lucas can tear open a portal to a small dimensional pocket. Every time he does this, he enters into the same dimensional pocket, no matter where he is. He uses it mostly as a meeting place, hiding place, a storage place- essentially, if he needs room for something, he can use this. It should be noted that opening a portal to this 'slipspace' takes much less energy than opening a portal from it, and for a good reason.
- TRANSPORT: Lucas can open a portal from his slipspace to anywhere that Lucas has memories of being. This allows for quick transportation, but at a high energy cost; the further away in relative space to where he entered his slipspace he tries to go, the more exhausted he gets. Figuring out how much energy this means can be downright confusing, since this is decided not just by the space of one dimension but the space of all dimensions. Therefore, distances tend to get more exhausting by exponential amounts as opposed to linear amounts, and, if Palkia allows, should he try to go to another dimension altogether, there's simply no guessing what will happen. Most of the time, he tries to stay within a mile at most of where he entered in order that he not simply collapse altogether.
- SLOWED AGING: An odd side effect of both frequent dimensional traveling and Palkia's massive power is the slowed rate at which Lucas ages. Lucas ages at almost exactly one fifth of the rate a normal human dies, theoretically giving him a lifetime five times that of a normal human. This is unlikely for a few reasons. The first is that the recent decay is taking a small toll on Lucas as it takes one on Palkia, therefore decaying his lifespan. The second is that Lucas is not immortal, and though he's a little more resistant to disease and much more resistant to aging, he's not resistant to being injured or killed by others. Therefore, it's quite likely he'll live a normal human lifespan because of the enemies he can make, only living it at a fifth of the age he should be.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:
Face Claim: Lucas of Pokemon D/P
Hair color and hair style: Short, straight black hair, though it's the sort of black that's almost blue if looked at in the right angle, and probably best described as a sort of slate.
Eye Color: A very grey blue, though they occasionally seem to shine like diamonds in the light.
Height: 5'5", a normal-ish height for an Innoha but rather short otherwise.
Build: A relatively small frame and weighing 138 lbs.
Other Appearance Information: What other distinctive features do they have? Please include scars, tattoos, wrinkles, piercing, and anything else that singles them out in a crowd. It is also a good idea to talk about their fashion and normal posture.

How do they feel about Pravus?:
- Lucas had a predisposition to distrust scientists after his many experiences with Team Galactic. However, upon discovering that Pravus's actions were causing decay to Palkia, this disposition was turned up to eleven. He dislikes Pravus with as fiery a passion as Lucas gets to, and there is little other than a direct order from Palkia (which would not happen) that would change that.
How do they feel about Pokemon?:
- Lucas believes in Pokemon rights. He always used to ask Pokemon to come with him in his rather traditional way. Gaining proof in his mind that the gods were Pokemon solidified this opinion. Pokemon are his friends, not his tools.
How do they feel about Pokemorphs?:
- Lucas does not, however, like Pokemorphs much. He understands that they're human beings, but that's just the problem: human beings were never made to mess with nature like that. THere's just something inherently wrong about combining humans and Pokemon in such a way.
How do they view the anti-Pravus movement?:
- The only thing Lucas particularly dislikes about it is how disorganized it seems and how much it relies on gang violence. Otherwise, he'd probably be a member himself, had his loyalty not first gone to his Lady Palkia. In fact, it rather reminds him of the Anti-Galactic movement in Sinnoh.
Personality:
- Please list five or more traits for their personality. Summarize each with at least a sentence. You can also, if you dislike bullets, write out personality. It must be at least 200 words in length if you choose to write it out.
BACKGROUND:
History:
In the North of Sinnoh, there is a people known as the Innoha. They were the original, indigenous people or Sinnoh, or at least, as best as anyone can tell, they are. While they would soon become a minority in the region that at least partially got its name from them, their most lasting legacy was the legends and religion and practices they followed, all of which would become integral parts of Sinnohan culture, beliefs, and religion, even as science began to try to take its hold instead.
Among these remaining people, most of whom lived either in Celestic Town, was a family known as the Ignatiussens, a family that was undergoing rather typical family drama, with the mother remaining faithful to the older ways and the now-pregnant daughter, who had managed to become pregnant through a one-night stand, wanted to go out and explore all of modernity, preferably leaving behind as much of the Innoha lifestyle that she could. Since they were both still in town when the baby was born, an argument once again broke out: would the boy have an Innoha name or a 'modern' name? His mother called him Lucas, reasoning that the boy's father (who was not seen much again) wasn't Innoha anyway and that the old ways held only the smallest sway in the modern world. His grandmother called him Aputsiaq, saying that he deserved to have a proper name and a connection to his roots. Whichever one of them was right (and truthfully it was most likely a mix of the two), the argument was so fierce that they finally had to decide to give the boy both of them.
Lucas's mother wasn't really ready to take care of a child on her own, though, so she stayed in Celestic for two years after the little boy was born. Lucas doesn't remember much about this time, but some part of his soul did. Times spent in the town solidified that, even if Lucas was only half-Innoha, his soul had that same connection to nature and to the spiritual world, even if later he would doubt and deny it. During this time he was particularly fascinated by the Shrine, often gravitating towards it when he was left alone. During the times of year that the Shrine was closed, the boy was often found playing in the woods. When his mother announced their departure upon Lucas's second birthday, Lucas was given a tiny, level one Turtwig that his grandmother told him was named Risi, and then he left, only to really remember the time during brief annual visits and the Turtwig that would be his constant companion, even if they were both far too young to actually battle.
However, it wouldn't be long until his mother did get the hang of single parenting, and his mother was ready to take Lucas elsewhere. With Risi (still a little baby Pokemon) firmly in hand, Lucas was taken out into the modern world. His mother, in a fit of rebellion and curiosity, first chose to take residence in Jubilife City, the biggest and most modern city in Sinnoh. At first, it was very exciting. However, over time, it became apparent that it was far more overwhelming than truly exciting, both for her and her son. That didn't mean that leaving the apartment was easy or cheap. Both of them were rather miserable for the next two years of Lucas's life, but they made due. His mother was not going back to her own mother, not after leaving the way she had. Instead, she quickly saved up money to move out of Jubilife and into another nearby town, one that, at the time, was still just in development. It was just outside of Sandgem, it was warmer than their prior home, and it was known as Twinleaf. The quiet house was soon built.
Twinleaf was more like home. It was just far enough from Jubilife that it wasn't really called a suburb, but modern enough that it was different and forward-thinking and full of science. Of course, though his mother would never admit it, Lake Verity was also one of the main draws of Twinlead, for such a sacred-seeming place, a lake with crystals across the bottom and a rumored legend residing in it, well, that probably sealed the deal. Her son was now almost four as well, and she had to think of schools. Luckily, nearby Sandgem actually had a very nice school that was funded by the nearby science lab. Lucas soon attended such a school, and at first, no one thought anything of it, though his teacher would call his mother, worried. Lucas didn't talk; he gestured. He only said words he couldn't get across in some other way. "Oh, don't worry," she'd respond, for as happy-go-lucky of a child as Lucas could be, he'd never talked much.
School was mostly nice for Lucas, especially elementary school, where he was 'super-cool' for already having one of the three official starter Pokemon (even if Risi was still hardly level four). However, elementary school was also bad at times, most notably in third grade, when the class went over the Innoha people. The legends came up. Lucas's grandmother still visited him and he still visited her, so it hurt a little to hear the stories he half-believed dismissed as 'legends'. However, the worst of it came when somebody mentioned that "Hey, isn't Lucas's Grandma Innoha? Do they really believe all of these stories? Lucas, you don't believe this junk, right?" All Lucas could do was sit there, stock still. He didn't really believe all of the stories, he said quietly, but it hurt that his friends didn't consider him Innoha (which he supposed he sort of wasn't) and that they had cornered him into really questioning his Grandma. See, elementary school was great for Lucas- mostly. However, this was also when the seeds of a rejection of his Grandma began.
See, Lucas was growing up now in a science-dominated world. He still listened to his Grandma's stories, and he'd always wanted to see the legendary that had to be in Lake Verity. However, Lucas also started to pretend he wasn't also Aputsiaq, because every time he mentioned it he was afraid of being mocked for his family's beliefs. Instead, he focused on learning Pokemon properly, learning maths properly, and just doing school properly. He worked to be smart and stand out because of that instead of slightly narrow eyes and stories told by his Grandma and short black hair. It worked surprisingly well, though some part of him always sighed and wondered if he was not destined for things a little greater. And thus, like every Sinnohan child, he found himself eagerly anticipating his journey to come, because he hoped that along the way he would start to stand out at something more than what people saw him as.
In Sinnoh at the time (though the laws soon changed, to be honest, due to the very events Lucas became embroiled in), the journey was symbolic. Many children would onloy journey from one city to another, but some other lucky children would be permitted a real journey cross-country. Most importantly, the journey was legally permitted and traditionally allowed at age thirteen. It was an old tradition representing the coming-of-age time. For the Innoha, it was also the time when a child would find the one of their gods that called to them the most, or so Lucas's Grandma reminded him the day before he left. It was also, reminded his mother, a time when he'd have to digitally keep up with his schoolwork, since he was planning on doing the full journey, otherwise he'd lose the right to his trainer's license. He accepted all the terms and set out, excited to finally really be training Risi and excited to set out on his own. He was determined to earn all of the badges. That determination would soon be utterly derailed.
At first, the journey proceeded as it normally would, with Lucas stopping to get his first badge in Oreburgh (though he avoided time in Jubilife for as long as possible). Then things got weird. An up-and-coming science company known as 'Galactic Co.' had recently became famous in Sinnoh, and Lucas hadn't thought much of it. He would continued to think nothing of it had he not run into Cyrus almost directly outside of the gym when he left, Cyrus having recently come out of the nearby Mt. Coronet.
Pokemon:
Name: Risi - good luck
Species: Torterra
Level: 54
Gender: Female
Ability: Shell Armor
Current Experience: 0/?
Origins: A gift from Lucas’s grandmother.
Personality: Risi is a very easy-going Pokemon. Slow moving and sweet, Risi is the sort of Pokemon who would be kind to anyone she met, enemy or friend. Despite this, she's a fierce protector when she must be, and should her friends be threatened she changes from the kind-slow moving Pokemon to an utterly immobile wall or grass and trees and earth and fury. She was Lucas's first Pokemon and his 'starter', so to speak, and perhaps knows him best of anyone. She's never in a Pokeball.
Moves:
Earth Power
Frenzy Plant
Grass Pledge
Solar Beam
and all naturally learned moves up to lv. 54, including all those learned by a prior evolution up to the level at which evolution occurs.
Name: Lightning
Species: Pachirisu
Level: 50
Gender: Male
Ability: Volt Absorb
Current Experience: 0/?
Origins: Captured by Lucas.
Personality: Lightning is a hyperactive little thing, easily distracted by almost any object imaginable. He tends to flit form one subject to another very quickly. It's amusing, the way he joined Lucas: he jumped out to battle Lucas and halfway through decided that he'd rather follow Lucas around than continue to fight him, and Lucas just shrugged and captured him after gaining permission. He normally hangs out on Risi's back somewhere, and will often pop out of the branches at inopportune moments.
Moves:
Ion Deluge
Covet
Thunder
Volt Switch
and all naturally learned moves up to lv. 50
Name: Spike
Species: Lucario
Level: 52
Gender: Male
Ability: Inner Focus
Current Experience: 0/?
Origins: Gifted as an egg by a weird man.
Personality: For a supposedly 'mysterious' aura Pokemon, Spike is awfully frivolous and childish. Hatched from an egg Lucas was given on Iron Island, Spike never felt the need to properly grow up, even after evolving. He causes more trouble than Lightning does most of the time due to his childish antics, but that's okay with Lucas. Spike actually prefers a Pokeball to walking most of the time, so he's only out of one upon occasion.
Moves:
Bullet Punch
Sky Uppercut
Vacuum Wave
Flash Cannon
and all naturally learned moves up to lv. 52, including those by a prior evolution up to lv. 38
Name: Angel
Species: Togekiss
Level: 48
Gender: Female
Ability: Serene Grace
Current Experience: 0/?
Origins: Rescued by Lucas from Team Galactic.
Personality: Angel is very quiet and shy. She was traumatized by what occurred when she was trapped in Team Galactic's headquarters and would prefer never to speak of it. It is clear, though, that in the process she developed the psychic power known as 'extrasensory'. Angel doesn't trust strangers much at all, and tends to hide behind Lucas when encountering them. Lucas actually found her as a level 35 Togekiss holding a Shiny Stone, as she had used it to evolve herself. She prefers to remain in a Pokeball in crowds or anywhere she might become frightened, but normally leaves it once Lucas is alone.
Moves:
Dazzling Gleam
Mirror Move
Aerial Ace
Extrasensory
and all naturally learned moves up to lv. 48, including those learned by a prior evolution up to lv. 35.
Name: Apirlaat - newly fallen snow
Species: Froslass
Level: 51
Gender: Female
Ability: Snow Cloak
Current Experience: 0/?
Origins: Captured by Lucas.
Personality: Apirlaat is an odd duck. She simply found Lucas one day and told him that she had decided to follow him, and no one can discern the reason. She's rather creepy, and tends to simply float silently and hum behind Lucas above anything else. She also forms snowflakes at random. Despite this creepiness, she actually likes most of all to see Lucas smiling. She never uses a Pokeball.
Moves:
Shadow Ball
Frost Breath
Weather Ball
Avalanche
and all naturally learned moves up to lv. 50, including those learned by a prior evolution up to lv. 40
Name: Fortissimo
Species: Chatot
Level: 44
Gender: Female
Ability: Tangled Feet
Current Experience: 0/?
Origins: Captured by Lucas.
Personality: Fortissimo nags the heck out of the rest of the team, but they could never get on without her. The shiny Chatot is perhaps best known for being the person who reminds the rest of the team that they are at least mostly mortal and, yes, they do need food and sleep and to protect themselves from the weather most of the time. She also worries constantly. She will go into her Pokeball if asked without question, but prefers to sit in Risi's branches, from where she can keep watch over the rest of the team.
Moves:
Boomburst
Air Cutter
Return
Attract
and all naturally learned moves up to lv. 44
