"All right, everyone report back here tomorrow morning at four a.m. No exceptions, no whining, and no complaining; it's good for you. We have a lot of laps to swim tomorrow. Dismissed!"
The woman heard a collective groan from the troops that were lined up in front of her. She could not really see them, being blind had that disadvantage, but she could generally sense where they all were standing in front of her. She simply attempted to give them a gentle smile as she listened to them disperse into their smaller groups or out of the training room. The pool water lapped against the concrete sides just behind her and she could feel the warmth of Umi's deep breaths floating just past her cheek, "Several of them were horrible today."
Mina gave a soft sigh towards the otter's words. "Umi, they're grunts and they're all relatively new. We were there once too, you silly Samurott." The Milotic Pokemorph fondly remembered the days that she was put through hell, not only because she couldn't see, but... Well, the hell came mostly for that reason. She had always had a reason to work ten times as hard as anyone else she knew or was training with for that reason alone. Another reason? She was a woman. Females didn't often make it far in the physical field. Look where she was now.
"Still. You're not hard enough on them sometimes. A few of them are slacking, an--" When she attempted to pull a look at him, he fell silent with a huff. "Then snap at their ankles while they're training. Make them work harder. It's not just my job, too." Mina knew they needed improvement, and she wanted them to ask her for help if they felt they needed it as well. How approachable did she look today? Black pants, black boots, black long sleeves. No medals attached to her, but no need, they were in her office as they should've been. She still looked the part of a general, even with the tail swinging around.
"Water will erode them with time, Umi, just relax." It was difficult to calm the Samurott down sometimes, especially when people slacked. Even if it were a few, it bothered him. While she was there to be their friend sometimes, she was there to be their educator. They would learn nothing about water-types without her skills. She was a general for that reason, but not looking forward to the paperwork she would need help with getting done within a few minutes. "....Do I still get to bite at their ankles?" She gave a gentle laugh, "Of course. You can tomorrow morning while we swim from the island to the shore and back. I'll tell them it's where the Sharpedo are."
The Sharpedo were on the other side of the island, and she had the scar across her abs and back to prove it; distinct teeth punctures in her skin, one by one and layered carefully as they had rows of them. The attack had been from defending one of her squads and Liam a few years ago. She remembered feeling the blood seeping from her pores. "But I won't take them to that side of the island. They could use the swim either way~"
"Talking."
Thinking.
Song inspiration was Pompeii by Basille. It was stuck in my head.
