Welcome to Nada Citadel,
the last "Paradise" left in the region of Remoor.

Nada Citadel, surrounded by walls and encased in a glass ceiling, is the one remaining city on Remoor's maps. Self-sustaining, powerfully protected, and providing clean water with an underground spring, it seems like the perfect paradise. Most of its denizens despise it.

War wreaked havoc upon Remoor many years ago; Mewtwo and his clones, longing for a place of their own, sought to conquer the land. Desperate, the people of Remoor turned to a previous medical company, Pravus, for aid. This medical company became much more immersed in military techniques and had already developed strong medical technologies. This company saved the region from total annihilation.

Peace would not last. Pravus and its scientists took it upon themselves to return Remoor to its previous glory. Using futuristic technology, the ‘Miracle Cure’ was crafted, it was meant to be a powerful fertilizer. It proved toxic and had devastating, and unforeseen, side effects. Pokemon who came in contact with the substance became mindless beasts, only wishing to sate their hunger. The walls of Nada keep them out, but to step outside means possible death. The monsters inside the walls, perched upon its walls like cruel monarchs, were just as bad.

The war had passed more than a decade ago; Pravus had been hard at work. They introduced a new ‘race’ dubbed Pokemorphs. These Pokemorphs, splices between Pokémon and humans, were meant to surpass humanity. Loyal to Pravus and seen almost everywhere, they are often the hand that disciplines They only make the tension in the Citadel rise, often causing riots. They are loyal Pravus dogs.

Not everything Pravus has done is bad, however. They created a new battling system, called the ‘Bounty System.’ They have a strong, organized government, and they let citizens keep their jobs and lives. Whether these citizens have their rights is another question.

Tension is building beneath this urban pressure cooker.

Nada Citadel is a huge city encased in walls with a glass-like ceiling, best described as an enormous rectangular coliseum. It's almost completely self-sustaining, receiving its water supply from a large spring beneath it and most of its resources attainable within its walls. It's the only town in Remoor left on the map, and has been our home for as long as we remember. However, home isn't always where the heart is ... Actually, most citizens in Remoor hate the place.

Years ago, there was a massive war. People died, homes blew up, and chaos ensued. The enemy? A group of psychotic cloned pokemon led by Mewtwo ... Yes, that Mewtwo. The battles raged on for about two years, and when their were no other options available, the people of Remoor sought the help of an organization so lovingly (or woefully) referred to as Pravus. They used to be a medical company, but evolved into a militaristic organization with technology few had ever seen. Who knew that a bunch of science geeks and doctors could train such effective soldiers? Well, they fought for Remoor, saved what wasn't already in shambles, and drove the enemy out. But even after it all, the region was in ruins: a twisted, dismal husk of its former self ... And Pravus stepped in to help rebuild. And the people let them move in without so much as a protest.

But, Remoor's misfortunes did not end there: The first thing that Pravus' do-gooder scientists set their sights on were the barren and scorched lands outside the city. They worked out of a small area called Barkwish and, using outdated and old machinery, created a "miracle compound" that could fertilize the land and bring life back to the dusty soil. But when they dumped it in the rivers to feed Remoor, the worst thing we never thought of occurred. It was toxic.

When pokemon came in contact with the stuff, whether it was ingested or absorbed through the skin, they not only lost the ability to think, but the ability to satiate their hunger. Yup. Mindless, infected, mutated, hungry pokemon ... everywhere. It's almost guaranteed death just to step foot outside the walls of the Citadel these days. The walls keep them out, for now. But greedy trainers sometimes bring them in. They aren't the only monsters in here.

It wasn't long after the war when a new "race" was introduced, one that would supposedly surpass humans. They were meant to return Remoor to its former glory. Pravus calls them "Pokemorphs," though we tend to refer to them as "Shifters." These things are hybrids of us and pokemon created by science. They're everywhere:running police stations, purifying our water, helping power our homes, and guarding our walls. They're loyal Pravus worker bees. If you aren't on your best behavior in the Citadel, they won't hesitate from ripping you limb for limb. This makes the tension in Nada Citadel even worse. Riots are common. Why not call the cops you say? They are the cops.

Some may argue that Pravus has thrown us a bone or two though. After all, they still permit pokemon battles, and they even instituted a new "gym" system. We still have jobs, and our lives (most of us anyway). But many forget our innate rights as living, breathing human beings. Life? Liberty? Happiness? Many forgot how life was before Pravus took over.

Citizens better get used to the riots, feuds and fights, because they won't be ending any time soon. And whether you're inside the Citadel or out in that wasteland, your clock is ticking.

The Timeline

Timeline of Events:

• Countless Years Ago - Arceus creates the Remoor Region
  
  
• 40000 Years Ago - The first Pokemon inhabit the Remoor Region.
  
  
• 2000 Years Ago - The first human settlement is created in the region.
  
  
  
• 2000 Years Ago - Human mutants begin to develop their abilities. Some are executed. Some are feared. Others are beloved.
  
  
• 1700 Years Ago - The first human and Pokemon team is formed.
  
  
• 1500 Years Ago - People working together with Pokemon becomes more commonplace.
  
  
• 1000 Years Ago - A new ritual towards maturity is coined. This involves fighting your Pokemon against various chieftains. This initial journey is the basis for the future "gym" system.
  
  
• 800 Years Ago - From these elite leaders, of which there were sixteen, four rose to higher prominence. The term "elite four" is coined.
  
  
• 799 Years Ago - A young man manages to defeat the elite four.
  
  
• 500 Years Ago - Nada Citadel is built as a fortress; it becomes the largest city in Remoor.
  
  
  
• 350 Years Ago - The first public university is founded in the region. It soon fails. Others rise to take its place. These universities have a large degree of gender-equality.
  
  
• 300 Years Ago - The Pravus club is created at a large university. The name arises from a combination of the founder's surnames. They are mostly composed of members from noble families. They agree to support each other in all their business ventures.
  
  
• 300 Years Ago - Pravus becomes a secret-society dedicated to spreading knowledge, growing in power, and preserving their own prosperity. They broadcast themselves as "superior". Many businesses begin to indicate their affiliation.
  
  
• 280 Years Ago - Pravus colors, navy-blue and white, are codified.
  
  
• 250 Years Ago - Pravus begins to recruit from various universities. They start to work towards a common goal. Women are now banned from membership. This likely reflects a tendency to misogyny in modern-culture.
  
  
• 200 Years Ago- Pravus begins to sell medicine, weapons, and technology.
  
  
• 180 Years Ago - The organization begins to ally with like-minded people all over the world.
  
  
• 80 Years Ago - The Anti-Pravus movement begins to spring up. They dislike how wide-spread the group's power has become. Pravus once again allows gifted-women into its ranks.
  
  
• 60 Years Ago- Pravus begins to experiment and develop poke-morphs. This was spurned on by an attempt to give humans some elemental abilities. Nearly all of these initial experiments die.
  
  
• 50 Years Ago - Pravus begins to gain a more militarized-aspect.
  
  
• 25 Years Ago - Pravus creates the first successful Pokemorph. While some others had survived, ending up horrific monsters, this one had the ability to care for itself.
  
  
• 23 Years Ago - The organization begins to show off its creation to other scientists and organizations. They try their best to hide these beings' existence from the "inferior" public.
  
  
  
• 22 Years Ago - The original Pokemorph batch has a member give birth. This child is the first example of a second-generation Pokemorph. Many of the rest, as Pravus attempts to breed them, die in early infancy.
  
  
• 15 Years Ago - Mewtwo and his clones begin to cause trouble in Kanto. Pravus sends aid to Team Rocket.
  
  
• 12 Years Ago - Mewtwo, seeing a place to settle down, sets his eyes on Remoor. Pravus heard of this beforehand. They begin to build up power and resources. The region had no other cohesive group to turn towards for protection; the government had no standing army.
  
  
• 11 Years Ago - The first conflict between Mewtwo and Pravus erupts.
  
  
• 11 Years - The first Pokemorph is used in battle against a clone. Pravus is pleasantly surprised. The creation of these hybrids is kicked into overdrive.
  
  
• 10 Years Ago - The fighting intensifies. Disliking how Pravus was handling the conflict, seeing some disturbing trends, another movement rises up. The Anti-Pravus group, known as 'The Rangers', asks for a more peaceful end. They are ignored.
  
  
• 9 1/2 Years Ago - Mewtwo retreats from battle. Pravus becomes a hero.
  
  
• 9 Years Ago - War has left the region devastated. The Professor was killed in combat. Many cities are left completely destroyed. Much of the native population moves into Nada Citadel.
  
  
• 8 Years Ago - Pokemon become rare in the wild. The war destroyed much of their food.
  
  
• 5 Years Ago - The rangers were heavily protesting the rise of Pravus in public life. They did not like that many officials and organizations held them in such high-regards. Their base vanishes due to a 'gas-line leak'.
  
  
• 4 Years Ago- Pravus, claiming they wish for a new beginning, makes a deal with the official government of Remoor. Pravus disposes of the old government and starts to rule alone.
  
  
• 4 Years ago - Pokemorphs are introduced to the general public as a viable option for the future. Up until that point, while their existence was known, they were held in shadow. They are hailed as the next evolution in humanity.
  
  
• 3 Years Ago - The illegal “Bounty” system of fighting is created. The gym-system had been badly crippled by the war. Rebuilding had taken over in prominence. The bounty-system was easy to maintain. The rules of Pokemon battling changed slightly.
  
  
• 2 ½ Years Ago - Pravus accepts the “Bounty” system as the new gym system. They see it as a way to observe promising individuals, allow the "riff-raff" to eliminate themselves, and a cheap way to allow the beloved past-time to continue.
  
  
• 1 Year Ago - The “Miracle” compound is released into Remoor. It ends up seeping into natural water-ways. The "infection" begins to spread throughout the remaining Pokemon population. Certain types, such as ghost and rock, are left unaffected.
  
  
• 6 Months Ago - People are now required to hold a license to travel outside the city. They can also do so if they are being sent to execution.
  
  
• 5 Months Ago - Pokemon organize a riot in the streets for greater rights. The uprising is harshly put-down by Pravus officials. Some humans, fearing a resurgence of the clones, push for stricter regulations on the animals.
  
  
• NOW - Beginning Of RPG - Remoor is absolutely ruined. Ethan McKenna is the Pravus President. Many people, while scared of Pravus, have equal rights.

The Infection

The infection doesn't look all that frightening. The compound seems much more like a beneficial aid than a plague-bringing monstrosity when looked at under the microscope. Yet the effects of MC84, the name given to it by its creator, are now obvious. While it helped to re-fertilize Remoor's barren grounds, it devastated everything else. To Pokemon, especially, the disease was a horror. When consumed directly it begins to multiply in the host body, and change in composition. After that, it acts very much like a superpowered Rabies, taking control of the central nervous system and essentially forcing its host's body to stay alive. This is one of the causes of the infected's almost insane endurance, as they will stay 'alive' long after even their stomach is torn open.

In most Pokemon, it takes two weeks to a month for the disease to fully progress through the body, depending on their size and species. Some more durable types, such as Dragon, or Steel types, last out even longer before their minds are consumed. Very few Pokemon are actually immune to the infection, their ranks including Ghost types and inanimate Pokemon such as Magnemite. Once the infection enters a Pokemon, the symptoms will only be felt after a few days. These symptoms vary between Pokemon, but they all lead to the same horrific end. Increased hunger and thirst, numbness, and headaches are a few of the initial symptoms, which eventually progress into more serious conditions and culminate in the complete loss of the mind, replaced only by a constant urge to consume any moving thing in the infected's path. At this point, the disease is transferred through the saliva, and must either be consumed or have direct contact with the bloodstream, such as through bites.

Luckily, preliminary vaccinations are out for Nada's sane Pokemon. However, they're incredibly expensive and last for only two months, and there's a chance that a vaccinated Pokemon could develop the disease from the shot. This chance is higher than what Pravus testifies it to be. Humans and Pokemorphs are in danger from the infection as well. Humans develop a severe fever, and hospitalization is required for children, the elderly, and those who are weakened in some general way. Since the infection there have been a few deaths, but these mostly occurred towards the beginning of the outbreak. Pokemorphs, on the other hand, are more susceptible to the infection, unless the species they morphed with is immune. The chance of death is far higher, and a bite requires almost immediate hospitalization. Similar symptoms to the infection are shown, and while it never leads to the complete loss of the mind, if it's not treated quickly the disease can cause permanent damage to the muscles, organs, and especially the brain.
