How long had it taken her to get up there?
Alyssia was beginning to wonder if these hunts were worth a damn half the time. The trek to get there was a pain in the ass and then finding the right Pokemon to subdue was the other half of the problem. Granted, the exercise was good for her and there was little doubt she was in great physical condition, but she cared very little about that part of things. The payout was usually the better half of the situation. The apartment she and her younger sister lived in was tiny. She slept on the couch while Alicia took the only bedroom. There was a smaller bedroom that the Pokemon used to sleep in, but it honestly wasn't much. It was difficult to make a living off of one simple job while Alicia went to school. The benefit of these jobs was worth it enough. She only had one person in the world she cared about, at least to this extent, and she wanted to provide for her well.
The scarlet haired woman stepped carefully through the tattered doorway of the run down place, the Ninetales at her side following closely, golden ears erect for any sounds that were unnatural. Inferna didn't even want to begin to describe the smell, as her trainer had her dark colored scarf pulled over her face to avoid the most of it, but the fox's was more sensitive and those scents were increased tenfold. "It reeks in here. What the hell are we after for that bastard again?" The vixen's tone was low, but laced with enough irritation to show her usual dislike for Ezekiel. "Some client wants a Braviary, and birds are known to nest here in the higher levels." "Are you ever going to stop working for the asshole?" "No. The payouts are enough to give Alicia what she needs for school." "How about you stop sleeping with him then?"
Blue eyes shot the vixen a look. "I know you hate him, but we're working and you're talking too much." She was going to attract things they didn't need to hunt. Besides, the sex wasn't that bad. Inferna fell silent and padded quietly off to the side a ways, red eyes alight with a fire that could be seen in the darkness. Alyssia stepped carefully on the floor that was falling away, eyes watching the dark chasm that opened up beneath her. Her hands held the bow carefully in front of her, an arrow lined up in the string. She walked carefully, waiting for any sound that would give away the sound of a bird. A crack of a nearby stone on the wall sounded. A distant screech could be heard, but the problem remained that one sound was not connected to the other. Something else would come before bird would.
"Talking."
Thinking.
