Cobalt Derick Acier
19 - Human - Male - Cisgender - None - Pokemon Center Stowaway
ABOUT THE PLAYER:
OOC Account: Cobalt
What do you wish to be called?: The account name is Cobalt, that works fine for me. If you prefer to seperate the RolePlayer from the character, my name's Trev.
Other Characters: None.
Link to your previous character: N/A, unless this is considered a revamp...in which case the prior account was deleted.
BASIC INFORMATION:
Full Name: Cobalt Derick Acier
Nickname(s): Prefers to be addressed as Cobalt, detests shortenings of the name such as "Coby".
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Allegiance: N/A, is ignorant of the resistance, but fears Pravus.
Occupation (Position) : Works in the pokemon center in return for food and lodging, virtually unemployed.
Species: Human
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:
Face Claim: imgur.com/a/uaJCJ#63 (Credit goes to Feather for giving me this)
Hair color and hair style: A classic shade of brown. It has a slight curl naturally, and is generally just swept to the side if it is styled at all.
Eye Color: A mysterious shade of light blue
Height: 5; 9"
Build: Cobalt's frame lacks any substance, as though he works too much and never eats enough. His broad shoulders indicate this was not always the case.
Skintone: A slightly pale shade of white that results from not seeing the sun regularly.
Other Appearance Information: Cobalt's most distinguishing feature, a mechanical arm starting at his left shoulder, is hidden by Cobalt with an effort that borders obsession. As a result, Cobalt's shirts bear an abnormally thick long sleeve knit to conceal his prosthetic left arm. Due to his more athletic manner of dress, the sleeve is viewed by strangers, and dismissed by Cobalt, as a fashion anomaly. Sleeve aside, Cobalt's dress reflects that of a common trainer on the road. He owns a few outfits at the most, since his quarters limit his wardrobe size.
Cobalt can also be recognized by the wide, faded scar tucked behind his left cheek. Numerous smaller scars can be traced down his neck. His clothing hides a collection of slash shaped scars on his chest. The greatest wound, however, is the absence of a left arm and the sickening, purple scar that sprawls from his left shoulder blade. The skin his prosthetic covers is a twisted mass of flesh that scarcely covers the bone. The whole wound is quite unpleasant to look at, and is a source of deep mental discomfort for Cobalt.
PERSONALITY:
Likes:
- Cooking
- Good-natured competition
- Quiet time
- Cooperating with others
- Physical Activity
Dislikes:
- Being belittled
- Any encounter with Pravus. A necessary evil, as they provided his prosthetic.
- Losing friends
- Being uncertain of a course of action
- The color yellow, reminds him of pus
Strengths:
- Cobalt's prosthetic affords him superhuman abilities. He can throw at unnatural speeds, and his prosthetic's strength is greater than its organic counterpart.
- Good learner and listener. Cobalt eagerly adapts to new information.
- "Dumb luck". Cobalt's luck could be regarded as slightly abnormal. This is slightly ironic, considering his past.
- Athletic ability. Cobalt's physical fitness is slightly above average.
- Approachable. Cobalt's demeanor and appearance are not intimidating.
Weaknesses:
- Cobalt's mechanical arm is just a prototype. That said, physical trauma or electricity surges can disable the arm completely, leaving it as dead weight until Cobalt can get it repaired by a technician. Powerful hits or high temperatures could ruin the prosthetic completely.
- Talking. Cobalt is prone to saying stupid things.
- Bad temper. Not in the sense that he loses it easily. Just that, when tipped over the edge, Cobalt loses control almost completely.
- Rash decisions, Cobalt acts before fully grasping a situation and considering the feelings of others. While he means well, this doesn't always translate.
- Prone to panic or anger when a series of events don't turn out as expected.
Personality:
- Compassionate. Cobalt tries to put others at ease when he can.
- Non-confrontational, although Cobalt has a love for challange, he dislikes upsetting others and conflict. When it matters, however, Cobalt is immovable.
- Friendly. Cobalt is a very agreeable person. He finds it hard to make enemies.
- Tenacious. When put to the test, Cobalt never gives up. He relies on willpower to outlast challenges and think up a solution.
- Creative, Cobalt loves exploring new ideas, whether it's music, writing, or battling, Cobalt tries new things.
BACKGROUND:
History:
- Cobalt is the middle of three children, he's been raised around Pokemon all of his life
- At a young age, Cobalt would frequently watch his elder brother have Pokemon battles with his friends.
- While never allowed to keep his own, Cobalt often played with his brother's Pokemon.
- On Cobalt's eleventh birthday, he and his brother are severely injured in a mysterious accident on the way to school. There were no eye witnesses, but Cobalt and his brother sustained heavy burns, with a multitude of other serious injuries. Cobalt's brother died at the scene, but Cobalt is still clinging to life as he is brought to a Pravus hospital.
- After a year, Cobalt is released from the hospital into an independent rehabilitation clinic. His unsteady condition crushes his dreams of becoming a Pokemon trainer
- Cobalt's stubborn nature provides the driving force in Cobalt's journey to get better.
- Three days before his fourteenth birthday, Cobalt collapses from exhaustion, falling into a deep unconsciousness.
- The week after Cobalt's birthday. Authorities report that a gas leak was the cause of a fire that consumed Cobalt's home...and family...Upon hearing the news, Cobalt smiled much less at the rehabilitation center, and was most often found studying books about pokemon with a feverish determination.
- At the age of 16, Cobalt received his first pokemon, a jigglypuff, from the staff of the center. It was rumored to have been a cheap adoption, and was given to give the boy hope and a purpose. Cobalt named the Jigglypuff Puffin trained and talked to him at length every day.
- At the age of 18, Cobalt leaves his home, at last able to begin his belated Pokemon journey.
- RECENT EVENTS: After leaving the center, Cobalt struggled along and met several young trainers, including his mentor, Aubre. By her suggestion, Cobalt began working at the pokemon center in exchange for food and housing. By interacting with a variety of pokemon on an occasional basis, Cobalt's understanding of pokemon has slightly increased.

ROLE-PLAYING SAMPLE:
The trees seemed to grow overhead as the carpet of dead, blackened leaves crunched underneath Finn's feet. The cinder-coated bark of the nearby trees told of a great fire, one that had consumed all good and replaced it with a tide of evil.
A noise akin to thunder boomed through the foliage. Finn flinched, his hand straying to the knife slipped through his belt loop...but the telltale echo forced Finn to relax. Whatever the beast was, it was still miles away...probably back by the village.
Finn absentmindedly wiped a tear off of his cheek as he slowed his pace. He had awoken during the middle of the night, with screams piercing through the rotton wooden walls of his small cottage. He arose quickly, peeking out of the door in only his undergarments to see what was going on--the village had become an inferno, the houses of his friends and relatives all consumed in a hateful blaze.
Finn ducked back into his cottage, his panic forcing him to get dressed faster than ever before. When he opened the door again, the village was mostly smoke. But something was wrong...Finn squinted, trying to assess what was lurking amongst the smog. The shadows were mammoth, and were only growing in size as they approached Finn's cottage. Finn swallowed his pride, turned tail, and ran.
