Nakhti had grown out of the customary excitement that came with Halloween each year. Or at least, that’s what he told himself.
He remembered that when he was younger he would wait impatiently by the front door until he was allowed outside, to meet with Khepri and go trick or treating with her, as was the tradition since they first met. His mother would fuss over his costume, despite his loud complaining, as his older brother – already clad in his costume and carrying a pillow case – leaned against the door with that lazy grin of his. Nakhti rolled his eyes at the thought of his brother, his nose wrinkling as the memories of how Khai would purposefully block the door each year to prevent him from escaping rose up. Which had only worked until he was strong enough to shove him out of the way.
The Servine morph gave a soft sigh, shaking his head to dislodge those thoughts of his brother. Khai was somewhere in the city, likely doing something stupid as he prone to, and the younger Sabry was here. Nakhti stood close to the door on the inside of the building where the Halloween ball was taking place, fidgeting uncomfortably in his costume as he waited for Khepri. He was dressed as a cobra, the thin cotton tunic (accented with gold and black) he was wearing revealing the sheer amount of verdant scales that covered nearly all of his tanned skin. A slim mask, similarly colored gold and green, was perched on his nose. He wasn’t used to showing off so much skin.
There was a small part of him that hoped Khepri liked his costume. Not that he would acknowledge it, or even voice it.
Nakhti grumbled quietly, embarrassment starting to set in once more as green eyes lifted to watch who was coming through the door. He had promised Khepri that he would be there, waiting for her, and like hell was he going to break a promise to her. As if his thoughts had summoned her, he spotted her in the crowd of people, and a smile came unbidden to his lips. Nakhti moved towards her instantly, reaching out to gently take her hand.
“I was wondering when you’d get here,” he said, his voice teasing as he grinned at her. | WORDS: 387 TAGS: Khepri HollandNOTES: so yes I have it as him waiting for her at the event, tell me if I need to change <3 CREDIT: LAIKA OF GS! |

Not for the first time, Khepri wondered why she had let Nakhti convince her to come to the masquerade party. It was a party after all and Nakhti knew very well that the Eevee Pokemorph was not the most social of creatures. Nakhti had insisted that they both dress up just like the 'old days' which might have been one of the reasons why Khepri had caved when all was said and done. With everyone dressed up in costumes for Halloween, it was less likely that they would be recognized as runaways that at least a few people were bound to be looking for. That was why Khepri had gone to such great lengths to make sure that her costume was perfect and was admittedly a little late as a result.
Dressed as a Horus, Khepri looks like both a hawk and a Pharaoh combined into one entity. The mask that adorns her face is a simple yet elegant hawk mask that surrounds her eyes and is decorated with brown and gold feathers and sequins that give off a desert-like feel to it. Feathers adorn her hair, appearing as if they are growing from the mask itself and effectively hide her tell-tale Eevee ears. Her floor length, strapless, sparkling golden brown dress mimics the attire worn by the ancient pharaohs and consists of a feathery, silk-like material that masterfully hides her Eevee tail in its folds. Brown and gold tinged feathers adorn a shawl that is wrapped around her shoulders, giving her the illusion that she has wings. Upon her feet are simple yet elegant, golden sandles that only enhance the overall costume and make her appear as if she is gliding across the floor instead of walking.
Walking into the masquerade and seeing Nakhti there, smiling at her as he took her hand made all the effort that went into making the costume worth it. Khepri smiled back easily and shook her head at the tease,"I didn't keep you waiting long, did I?"she answered in reply, all but ignoring the tease as she gave his hand a little squeeze. After all they had been through, Khepri never would have believed that they would be here together. The Eevee Pokemorph honestly felt as if she was walking on air and suddenly it didn't matter that she hadn't wanted to come in the first place. She was with Nakhti now and that was all that mattered in the end now wasn't it.

The moment Nakhti got a closer look at Khepri, he instantly felt underdressed. She looked absolutely stunning in her costume. It didn’t matter to him that she was late. He wouldn’t have cared if she was two hours too early, or two hours too late. If she wore something that accented her beauty like this, he would gladly wait for her. The Servine morph was almost certain that he was grinning rather foolishly as he looked at her, amazed that she had fallen in love with him.
Stepping a little closer to her, Nakhti squeezed her hand, and he couldn’t help but notice how small hers were against his. He wrapped his fingers around her hand tightly, tugging her nearer to his side protectively. He had been looking after her, shielding her in the best way he could, for as long as he could remember. It was a habit ingrained since they were children that he didn’t want to break. She was important to him, and he wasn’t about to let her be hurt again. Not under his watch.
Nakhti reached up with his free hand to adjust his mask self-consciously, giving her a boyish grin as he did so. “Course not,” he said in reply to her question, sticking his tongue out at her briefly in a playful motion. The morph leaned forward now, his hand gently tilting Khepri’s chin up so he could place a light kiss on the corner of her mouth. “You look beautiful,” he whispered to her, turning his head to steal a proper kiss before he straightened now with a grin. “You wanna dance, taira?”

Smiling up at Nakhti, Khepri couldn't help the rosy blush that appeared on her features when he took her hand. His hands were so much bigger than hers and it just felt so right holding his hand. She had always felt safe with Nakhti and that hadn't changed now either. Still, his costume was just a little distracting to say the least as he pulled her closer to him. He never showed this much skin usually and it made the Eevee Pokemorph feel overdressed in contrast at her more modest outfit choice. Really, the only reason she was wearing a dress at all was because it had been the only thing that hadn't been knee-length or higher. Besides that, Horus didn't have a tail or fox-like ears for that matter so she had needed to hide them which was part of the reason why she had taken so long in the first place.
Nakhti's smile seemed to light up the room and Khepri was once again amazed that he had chosen her. She had always been the outcast, the pariah, even growing up but somehow Nakhti had seen past all that. After all this time, the Eevee Pokemorph still had a hard time believing that this wasn't just a dream that she would wake up from. His comment followed by the playful motion elicited a soft laugh before he leaned forward to kiss the side of her mouth. The world seemed to stand still in that moment as Khepri looked up at him with wide, brown eyes, looking for all the world like a deerling in the headlights. She would have denied the compliment that followed but Nakhti cut her off with another kiss. Khepri melted into the kiss as she returned it, not wanting the moment to end.
Unfortunately, Nakhti had other ideas as he pulled away, leaving Khepri in a daze. The question went unanswered for a few moments before she registered it and looked up at Nakhti once again, "Huh...?"Khepri asked before she blushed once more at how stupid she clearly must've just sounded. Well, this wasn't turning out how she expected it to be...then again, what had she been expecting... So far the evening was going great and now she was messing it up because she couldn't answer a simple question. Khepri's blush deepened out of embarrassment before she forced herself to look up into the no doubt amused expression of Nakhti. "I...ah..."Dammit why couldn't she form a coherent response, this was just going from bad to worse... ֍ TAG: @nakhti ֍ WORDS: 428 ֍ NOTES: Khepri's so cute and flustered ֍ CREDIT: By Requiem of Remoor!
