ZIVA MINOR 289 - BLACK - HAPPY HALLOWEEN October 31 had to be one of the best days out of the year. Besides celebrating your birthday and Christmas, oh and Thanksgiving. You just cannot forget about Thanksgiving. Ziva had rummaged around in her small room for the majority of the previous night in an attempt to dig out her old custom. What had the teenager had in mind for a custom? A witch!
On the day of Halloween, Ziva was clad in a long black dress with the sleeves deliberately raggedy and torn in some places. Atop of her head she wore a tall pointy black hat, the trademark of a witch. In one hand she was holding a broom with its bristles pulled out at different angles to make it look rather eccentric.
Her sister and brother were not going to go out and participate in the Halloween fun. They'd rather stay inside and watch horror movies on the television. Borinngggg. The girl thought as she tapped each of her siblings on the back of the head with her hand before heading out the door.
Now, all she had to do was manage to pull Touya out of the sad little hole that he probably had crawled into for the night. Ziva soon arrived at the boy's home. And the silence of the night would soon be broken by the girl's hand, balled up into a fist, pounding on the wooden door.
"TOUYYYYAAA COME ON. IT'S HALLOWEEN. LET'S GO TRICK OR TREATING!"
If the girl practically yelling in the middle of the night didn't get the boy to open the door, Ziva would not mind finding a way into one of the windows.

It was Halloween.
He was curled up under about five blankets, in his room. The door was shut. So were the windows. They also had thick blinds covering the windows. There were no electronics or lights on in the room. It was completely dead and silent. That was how he felt.
He didn't want to go out. He hadn't left his room since yesterday. He was just too sad and depressed and upset. All he could think about was what he had done to White. HIs best friend, and he had tried to kill her. At least the spell he'd felt like he'd been under for so long was finally broken. He was freed. Although he felt sick and broken. Like nothing.
He didn't want to exist. He couldn't face White, or anyone. His wrists ached. His head pounded. His mouth was dry. Someone pounded at his door and yelled. Touya stirred, eyes opening unwillingly. Who was that? He concentrated. It was Ziva. His stomach churned. She wanted to go trick or treating even after he told her that he didn't want to go...? Typical. He gave a large sigh.
Actually, he had a costume... (Although he had not been the one to go out and buy it.) It was a costume of an "evil Snivy who was also a gentleman" apparently... It was basically just a Snivy in a top-hat with a cane and monocle.
"Go away." He muttered and pulled the blankets further over his head, hoping that if he ignored her, she'd get the hint and leave him alone.
Luckily for Ziva, his bedroom window was unlocked.

ZIVA MINOR. 234 - BLACK - HAPPY HALLOWEEN She heard a muffled voice from within the house must could not quite make out what the boy had said, if he had said anything in the first place.
A balled fist rammed against the door one more time but when no answer came to the door, the teenager stepped back. I'll just find another way in She thought to herself as she walked back down the steps. Knowing Ziva, she could and would find a way into the boy's home.
Sure, it was breaking and entering. Ziva didn't care.
The young woman inspected the windows but the majority of them were locked, except for the bedroom window. "Aha!" She murmured softly to herself in the night as she fumbled with the window as quietly as possible.
After a moment or two passed the window clicked and she lifted and raised the window up just enough so that she could move into the bedroom.
The costume clad girl looked around the dark room. Why was it so dark in here? Was the boy trying to act the part of a vampire? Ziva did not know this was the dude's bedroom, so.."TOUYA COME ON LET'S GO TRICK OR TREATING. IT'LL BE FUN!" She yelled in the room oblivious to the fact that this was the room that the teenager was sleeping in.

He was trying very hard to ignore Ziva. He was tired. Beginning to drift back to the bliss of sleep, he gave a quiet sigh. If he could, he would probably choose to just sleep the rest of his life away. At least when he was asleep he didn't feel so horrible. It was kind of strange that he never dreamt... or even had any nightmares. It was just a black abyss of nothingness. He liked to sleep. It was better than being awake.
He was almost sleep when Ziva entered the room. He heard the window scraping against the sides, the sound of rustling clothes. Reluctantly he stirred. What on earth was that woman doing now...? He sighed again. Reluctantly he reached a hand out from under the mass of blankets and groped around on his lightstand. He had a lamp somewhere around here- where on earth was the switch? His arm felt as heavy as a bag of bricks from sleeping so much.
Ah, there it was. He flicked it on- at that moment Ziva shrieked loud enough that he was certain she must have woken up everyone in the entire block. He winced. "What!?" He yelled back, partly from being startled, and partly from slight annoyance. Why on earth was-- how did she even-- Reluctantly, he sighed and threw the covers up. "Alright..." He mumbled, slowly getting out of bed. He'd had a shower about two hours prior. His "costume" was in full view, neatly put away in his closet.
He hoped she wouldn't force him to wear it.

ZIVA MINOR. 224 - BLACK - TRICK OR TREATING AND HAUNTED HOUSE YES The boy's angry, shocked remark only caused the girl to smile wider. Touya was one sad puppy, but that wasn't something to get into on a spooky fun night such as Halloween.
Chocolate eyes watched as the boy got out of bed. "Come on, get out of that sour mood! You're never going to have any fun if you keep feeling sorry for yourself." She protested as she paced around the floor.
Shaking her head she looked around the boy's room for a moment. She knew he had a costume. "Wait. You can't leave yet. Put on your costume! We're going to g trick or treating and no one is gonna give candy to someone without a costume!" Well, some people did but Ziva did not know that information.
Her eyes scanned the room only to land on the the door that would open to reveal his closet. In hurried footsteps she approached the closet and flung the door open, removing the green costume from the closet and tossing it onto the bed. "Get into the Halloween spirit, come on! Hurry up while you're at it too." She complained as she tapped her foot on the floor.
She wasn't going to leave until the kid put on his costume.

He was silent. She had a point. Although it did not feel simply like feeling sorry for oneself to him. He was depressed and upset, heartbroken and lost. He didn't know what to do or feel. But in the end, what was that really accomplishing? Touya sighed. Even if he still didn't feel like he could get over what had happened, sitting around doing nothing and moping over the situation wasn't helping either- even if it was soothing in a strange, masochistic way.
"I don't think I deserve to have any fun." He sighed, stretching briefly. He was quite stiff and sore. How long had he spent in his bed at this point anyways? He felt just as tired as when he crawled in despite how much he had been sleeping. Honestly it was really tempting to just turn around and crawl right back in.
"Aren't we a little bit old to be trick-or-treating?" He asked, going over to the closet and looking at the costume a bit despairingly. Honestly, last year he had gone trick-or-treating. He actually was told often that he looked younger than he actually was- although these past few weeks had aged him considerably. He kind of had to feel grateful to Ziva. If it wasn't for her, he would still be curled up in his bed feeling sorry for himself... or worse.
Slowly, he got dressed. Like hell he was wearing the top hat and monocle though. Finally he stood ready. Despite his current mood, he did kind of perk up and feel excited. After all, Halloween had been-- was one of his favourite holidays in the entire year. Carefully, as they went down the porch steps, he set out a bowl of candy for any trick-or-treater who came by while he was gone with Ziva.
"...Hey, thanks, Ziva." He said quietly, as they made their way down the street. "I'm glad you're my friend."

ZIVA MINOR She waited until the boy had dragged himself out of bed and put on his costume before continuing her usual happy banter. "You're never too old to have fun! Trick-o-treating is fun Tanya! Don't worry, kay?" A large grin pulled at the girl's lips showing just how happy she was on the inside and outside.
Ziva knew the boy needed help. There was a darkness over his heart and mind and if he never truly saw the 'light' of day he'd.. Ziva refused to think of such dark matters.
The girl skipped through the boy's house towards the front door. "Hmm?" She hummed as she turned around and looked at the boy. "Hey, there's no need to thank me! Friends stick up for each other, but I'm glad you're my friend too" Her smile only grew larger as she followed the boy down the street.
"I hope we score lots of candy! Especially chocolate, you can never have enough chocolate!" As if the girl needed any more sugar in her system. "Oh look, first house!" She shrieked and ran towards the house in a hurry.
A small bucket fashioned to look like a plastic jack-o-lantern was held out and the adult behind the door poured an assortment of candy into the bucket. "AWESOME. Thanks lady!" She waved at the elderly woman. The girl was in such a hurry that she bumped into the boy but it didn't seem to phase her one bit.
"On to the next house~"

"I think the parents would beg to differ." Black commented dryly, imagining the sight of two nineteen year olds traipsing about across dark yards like a pair of five year olds. They'd be lucky if the parents didn't call the cops on them for looking and acting like pedophiles. Maybe he was just being too negative about this. Really, he needed a chance to have a little fun. To relax and just forget about his worries for awhile. If he didn't, they'd just end up overwhelming him.
He never wanted to feel like how he had on /that/ night again... The night he met Ziva, ironically enough.
"I like the little, squishy candies best." Touya commented, trotting after his much more enthusiastic friend. It was a little cold out- but the bite was mostly in the wind. Strange that there wasn't any snow yet. "Girls like chocolate, don't they?"
He held out a duplicate bucket, blushing slightly. He felt kind of embarrassed. The woman only chuckled and smiled, giving the both of them a generous amount of candy. "Thanks... Have a happy Halloween." He mumbled, then gave a startled yelp as Ziva ran into him. She was always so high energy- he turned around to follow after her.
"Look at the decorations on this one." He commented, eying a giant, floating black cat. They'd really gone all out.

ZIVA MINOR. The sound of paper being pulled and torn could be heard as the girl removed a wrapper from one of the chocolate candies. "Like gummy bears and jelly beans?" She asked as she took a bite of the candy as they walked down the path.
Just like with most people, Ziva enjoyed the company of Touya, maybe more so than others. He was literally her first and only friend in the city that was not family.
After finishing the chocolate bar she looked at the boy. "Well, I don't think it's a gender-thing, chocolate is just amazing is all." She explained before looking in awe at the decorated house.
Brown eyes looked at the floating black cat for good long while before a hand went out to pull at one of the strings that suspended the decoration in mid air. Happy laughter bubbled from the girl as she continued to yank on the string, unfortunately after pulling one time too many, the rope snapped and caused the floating cat to become lopsided. "Oops." She smiled but she really wasn't all that sorry as her smile only grew wider.
The girl would visit more houses down the line until the bucket was filled to the brim with an assortment of different delicious candies. (Knowing Ziva, she'd eat all of it in one night and get a stomache the next) "Wanna try the haunted house? I bet's it's not even scary." She asked after stopping in the middle of the street to inspect her candy loot.

Touya looked through his candy loot. There was a lot of chocolate and assorted gummy candies-- someone had thrown a bag of chips and pop in there too. It would be nice if after this if they could go back to his place and watch a movie or something. Now that he was actually out and about, and enjoying himself, he was starting to realize how lonely he was from his self-imposed exile. Touya was not the kind of person who enjoyed being alone- he was a definitely people person and loved being sociable and having fun with other people.
"I like the nutty kinds of chocolates." Carefully, he picked out one of his favourite kinds of candy and popped it into his mouth. It was sweet and tasty, with just the right amount of crunch.
He blinked, looking at Ziva as she broke the decoration. She was kind of like a kid. "Sigh." He shook his head briefly, and took the two pieces of the rope, carefully tying them back together so that it didn't even look broken anymore. "I'm sure the people who put this up would be sad if they saw someone broke it." He commented simply.
By the time that they'd finished all the houses, the bucket of candy was starting to get pretty heavy. They'd gotten a good haul. "Sure." He agreed with a smile and a nod. "It'll be fun."
The haunted house was pretty impressive. |
