"Eeee! Ollie, this is so exciting!" The young woman couldn't help squealing excitedly at everything she saw. The nice thing about having no memory was her ability experience everything all new again, and it was so much fun! This Halloween thing was so exciting and jus--"Oh my gosh, what is that!?" Her excitement overtook her again and she grabbed Ollie's hand excitedly, tugging him along.
Hazel, dressed up in her pirate's costume, leaned slightly to read the sign, "...Haunted...house?" The words were slow and sounded out; sometimes she was still uncertain on specific words, especially when it had something to do with something she had no idea about! Well, that tended to be just about everything. "That sounds like fun. Ollie! Let's go in!" She grinned at him and bounced again, holding his hands and giving him a quick kiss before pulling him up the stairs and into the door.
It closed behind them.
Hazel glanced around. The room was lit for the most part and there seemed to be some sort of car contraption that people were getting into, standing in line before they did so. Whatever this was, she was excited to learn about it, but...she turned and blinked her wide reddish-pink eyes at Ollie. "...Are you okay?" Part of her brain, damaged as it was, had forgotten that he tended not to have anything to do with scary.

Halloween. A holiday Oliver never quite enjoyed, even as a child. While he could say he truly did love seeing that bright smile gracing Hazel’s features, this was also the time of year that scared him the most. He was very jittery come October, especially since most people who knew him well enough seemed to enjoy scaring him. Even Roux was fond of chasing him around the house, disguised in a small white sheet as a ghost. She would often jump out at him from around corners or from the top of the bookshelf, effectively scaring him half to death, and the walls would shake with her laughter. Jing would scold her, often, but that never curbed her behavior. In fact, she was encouraged.
At the thought of his Pokémon, Oliver sighed gently and turned his attention back towards Hazel. Their hands were clasped together, fingers intertwined, and he couldn’t help but smile at her enthusiasm. They were both dressed as pirates, and he even had an eye patch covering one eye (though it was really tugged over his glasses, since without them he was blind). The blond reached up to carefully to readjust his costume hat when Hazel tugged him forward, her attention caught by something new.
He stumbled, though he was able to keep pace with her easily. And when he realized what she had seen, Oliver felt as though his heart had stopped. A haunted house. Oh god. What horrors were going to be in there? Before he could even voice a protest, Hazel was grinning at him, bouncing up to kiss him before she pulled him up the stairs. He squeaked when the doors closed, unconsciously stepping closer to Hazel.
At least the room was lit. He could see the car that everyone was getting into, and part of him wanted to yank her out of there without looking back. But he was conflicted, especially since she looked so excited. Oliver jolted slightly when she spoke, blinking wide eyes at her before he attempted to smile. “I-I’m f-fi—” he started, though his words were quickly lost in a yelp as a bat suddenly screeched from the corner and flapped its wings. He instantly ducked behind Hazel, whimpering quietly as he clung to her clothing.
He didn’t want to leave, since he knew Hazel had been so fascinated with the prospect of a haunted house, but they hadn’t even been here two minutes and he was already frightened out of his wits. | WORDS: 416 TAGS: @hazel NOTES: i'm so mean to him CREDIT: LAIKA OF GS! |

For a moment, Hazel did not recognize that Ollie was at all scared. It was as if she had tunnel vision, only seeing this strange new creation before her that she so desperately wanted to explore. She had seen a few movies that had been labeled "horror" and she honestly didn't see what was so scary about them. Perhaps she simply had different fears, or constantly recognized that they were all fake.
They were last in the line and she tugged him along as the line moved, pausing to turn when he yelped and hid behind her. No one turned to look; they must've thought it was some great exhibit that would instill some scares. Hazel turned to face Oliver and lifted her hands to his face. "Hey, don't worry, okay?" She offered him a huge smile and planted a small kiss on his lips, nose, and forehead. "I'll be right here the whole time. I'll protect you from anything you find scary."
She laced both of her hands through his own and tugged him closer to the last car. She stepped in carefully and tugged him down to sit next to her. She was excited, to say the least, and she knew they would be safe. "I wonder if there will be any ghost Pokemon helping out?" The thought was more to herself as she fiddled with her side's half of the flimsy seat belt; it seemed to be just a reminder to remain seated. "Just...remember, Ollie. It's all fake. There's nothing real about this whole scary stuff." She giggled and grinned again. "Besides, I'll protect you."
"Talking." "Pokemon Talking." Thinking.
