We used to be so perfect, now we're lost and lonely “For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.”
His wife, ever beautiful, ever ephemeral, glowed in his arms. They were slow dancing, to the music that was drifting throughout the dance room. Dim lights showered the ground, adding to the eerie atmosphere. For two ancient ghosts, it was the perfect date night.
Rather than remain on the ground, with all of the youthful, likely drunken, and crowded living, the two of them were up in the air. They danced, drifting and transparent, on the edge of reality. The decorations, floating lights, and ghost poke'mon made for a beautiful scene.
Gently, he bowed his wife back, leaning in to ghost his lips against hers in an age-old expression of purest love.

corde lisse She moved gracefully through the dance steps that the two had memorized many years ago, her body fitting perfectly in her husband’s arms. Her attention was focused solely on the man in front of her, the one person she loved with all of her heart and soul - and would always love, forever. She didn’t need to direct where her feet were going, the movements of the dance as familiar to her as the face in front of her.
Corde gave her husband a tender smile, silver eyes dancing with laughter and warmth as Ring lowered her in a gentle dip, and when he kissed her, she delicately placed a hand on his cheek, her lips curving into a smile as she kissed him softly. “I love you, my most precious knight,” she whispered to him, tilting her head upwards to place a kiss on his nose.
Her free hand moved to wrap around his shoulder, fingers curling into his soft hair, and she laughed, a gentle sound that was almost swallowed by the noise of the music. “Are you ever going to let me stand again, darling?”
Her foot, bare and startlingly pale in the candlelight, rose to tease at his ankle.

We used to be so perfect, now we're lost and lonely Ring entwined his fingers with Corde's own. Their fingers seemed to fit together in just the right way-- effortlessly clasped, like perfect compliments. She was his soul mate. His true love. The princess he had spent an eternity loving. To breathe, to live-- it was to be with her. Love is a long, sad tale that ends in graves side by side. But so long as there was love, they were eternal.
"I would never wish to sleep again for my reality is far better than my dreams; I fall in love all over again every time I see you." He murmured, gazing into her beautiful silver eyes that were as familiar as home. Gently, he leaned against her, sweeping through the moves of the dance effortlessly. He truly felt that he could do anything when he was with her. He loved her more than words could tell. "I would rather spend one lifetime with you, than face all the ages of this world alone."
Gently, he chuckled. "Perhaps not." He teased gently, and swept her off her feet, into bridal style. "For I wish to always make you feel as the moment we first fell in love: that endless, breathless moment." He leaned in, kissing her softly and full of love.
When he was with her the rest of the world faded away: there was nothing else but her. She was the other half of his soul: they were not complete unless together. Nothing else mattered. @corde | “Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.”

corde lisse If Ring had voiced his thoughts out loud, Corde would have agreed wholeheartedly. This man was her soul mate, her true love, her perfect knight, her one prince – and she would spend many more years loving him with all her heart, the way she did now. They were just as in love as the day they met, so many years ago that it was nearly lost in history for the rest of the world, but that never mattered to them. All that mattered was that they were together still.
The female ghost giggled at her husband’s words, her laughter tinkling like falling glass among the conversations below them. But her world consisted only of Ring, and of their familiar dance, oblivious to the fact that a few faces had turned upward towards them in curiosity. She didn’t care for the humans nearly as much as her husband did. “As do I, my love,” she murmured back to him, the very tips of her fingers gently tracing the arch of his cheek. Her body moved with his seamlessly, their dance perfected now with how long they’ve spent together.
She liked to think that this was the same dance, the same steps their feet followed on their wedding night, but she couldn’t quite remember. Neither of the two did quite recall their lives as living humans, though that never stopped them. They had their memories of spending eternity together, of the circus, and of their makeshift family. That was what was most important.
“Can I say now that I fall more and more in love with you, each day?” Her lips were curved up into a playful smile, and she about squealed as she was swept off her feet and into a bridal hold, her hands automatically gripping his shoulders. Though she had no fear of falling (or dying) any longer, it was hard to stop those basic human instincts. Corde laughed breathlessly, and with the kiss her husband gave her, she willingly pressed a little closer to him to kiss him back.
She took a moment to lengthen the kiss, her hand tangling within his hair, and drew back slowly, blinking up at her husband coyly through her lashes. “I don’t think you have to worry about that, my knight,” she teased, winking at him playfully. “For I always manage to be breathless around you, no matter what you do.” Corde leaned forward to place a kiss on the corner of his mouth, murmuring “I love you, my better half” to him.
