Red
21. Mutant. Male. Kanto Pokémon League Champion.
[/b] broke his nose before he got to the gym leader.
ABOUT THE PLAYER:
OOC Account: Karkitten
What do you wish to be called?: Kar, KK,
Other Characters:Alucin, Zorro
BASIC INFORMATION:
Full Name: Sean Reid Raeburn
Nickname(s): Red
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Allegiance: N/A.
Occupation (Position) : Original Pokémon League Champion
Species: Mutant
Powers: Vocally activated mental compulsion. A version of mind control that works best on those who are weak or simple minded. He can be kept from using his mutant power if you can gag him or silence him. It doesn't work at all against Dark typed Pokémon/Pokemorphs and Psychic types have a higher chance of resisting than the average human/Pokemorph/Pokémon. Though someone with a strong will can overcome the compulsion if they fight it hard enough.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:
Hair: Black short hair, wild but flat down against his head.
Eye Color: Blood red, with a bit of a low-lit unnerving glow in the darkness
Height: Average height(?)
Build: Thin with mostly undefined muscles.
Skin tone: Pale as hell
Other Appearance Information: He has a wide variety of scars on his body most of them resemble bullet wounds, but a few are from knives. One very notable scar on his head rests almost dangerously close to his temple. It was from being hit by a car, which cost him some of his memories. Sometimes Red will have dark bags under his eyes from nightmares spawned from the incident he'd accidentally created many years ago. But beyond that, he's a normal human, for the most part. He's always wearing that jacket of his and even though he lives on a freaking mountain, he never complains about being cold. Though, there are rare times when he is actually out of his iconic gear, times when he's just going about an average day and doesn't want to start a battle, but those moments are rare.
PERSONALITY:
Likes:
- Freedom
- Beaches
- Nature
- Having friends
- Battling
- Pokedex holders
Dislikes:
- Negative opinions
- People who are afraid of Pokémon
- People who insult him
- People who abuse others/Pokémon
Strengths:
- Parkour, freerunning
- Laylining
- Surviving in tough conditions
- Independent
- Cooking (when you live away from civilization you learn to be self-sufficient, mostly)
- He's a rather good handyman when it comes to fixing a computer or building a house.
- Analyzing a pokemon battle as it happens.
Weaknesses:
- He's afraid that one day his battling is going to get him killed in an avalanche from the mountain.
- He doesn't talk much thanks to his mutation and is generally pretty much incapable of being social.
- He has a soft spot for those who were abandoned, abused or have gone through some form of memory loss.
- He's colorblind and that tends to make things a bit hard for him to see sometimes.
- Red has a weakness for all his most beloved pokemon, in one of the top spots is Lapdog, the goofy Lapras that he constantly keeps in his party. Lapdog sticks out like a sore thumb in Red's party, with his silly grin and innocent attitude. He's Red's hope for his future, that maybe one day he'll be able to smile like every day is a present. If you insult Lapdog in any manner beyond friendly teasing, you will incur Red's wrath.
- Red's love of pokemon battles will sometimes cause him to attempt to bribe strong trainers into a battle with him.
Personality:
- He's a bit of a dick to his friends in that he's really harsh with his comments and actions toward anyone, but that's just how he is. He wasn't like this when he started travelling but when you've been through all he's been through, it changes people.
- Red is chivalrous and kind mostly to women, but especially those who had also suffered memory loss, as he feels a kinship to them. He'll open doors for them, hold their bags, practically wait on them hand and foot, but he's not that much of a push over.
- Being a bit of a recluse and living on his own for the entirety of the life he can remember, Sean became socially awkward and as such acts somewhat out of the norm, initially shying away from contact, breaking the ankles from anyone who gives some sort of perceived threat, the usual for one who could be classified as a 'wild child'.
- He's grown to be far too independent and close to his Pokémon team, Sean will absolutely not ask anyone for help even if he's truly in need of it. He could be dying and he'd still not ask another trainer for help. It takes someone who actually knows him well enough to realize this and make up for it.
- He's worried he'll be forgotten, after all he's done, if he can forget his past so easily, then he can be forgotten just as quick. He is a Champion, but he knows he's not the only one out there, and he is determined to have a real claim to fame and not just be written off.
- Red has developed a love of adrenaline, and the rush he gets in a pokemon battle is one of the few times actual expression will show in his eyes. When his heart is racing, he feels free.
BACKGROUND:
History:
Then Sean came to Silph Co and things began to go south. [See 'sample' for the full Silph Co incident] People brought out guns at him instead of Pokémon. Who wouldn't be scared with an actual weapon being pointed at them? Actual bullets and somehow they could afford teleport pads too. Sean came out of there bleeding, with a few grazes from a bullet or two on his body, pale as a kid left out in the snow. In one hand he had a pokeball that was blood splattered and dripping. He ran from there as subtly as he could and into the Pokémon Gym.
Several more damn teleport pads later, Sean took down Sabrina.
Of course this led to him hightailing it out to Cinnibar Island and taking down Blaine.
His first hint that there were people onto him came in the form of his mother calling to tell him that someone had broken into her house. Who wouldn't be worried for the only living relative they had? So he flew to Pallet on Char to make sure his mother was okay. Worried about his mother, Sean went out to the Safari zone and caught a Kengaskhan, which he gave to his mother as a companion and body guard, not to mention the fact that they were both mothers.
To keep his mother safe, he set out right after that, walking along to draw the attention of the remaining rockets who had broke into his mother's house.
Four or five attempts on his life later and Sean was walking into Viridian. He barely saw the vehicle coming at him. Impact was like watching himself from a distance. He was briefly reminded of the entire Silph Co. incident before he blacked out into the darkness of sleep.
~
He awoke with the memory of what he'd done in Silph Co. haunting his mind. Pale from the horror and confused, he tried to leave the building, only to be caught by nurses. The nurses all seemed to have so many questions for him yet he just stared at them, afraid speaking would cause a repeat of the only moment in time he could remember clearly.
He didn't react too well to the nurses, or the doctors. He was confused and couldn't remember anything, not even his name. But then someone claiming to know him came to hospital and this person called him Red. So he figured that was his name, Red. The other guy called himself Green but according to the nurses that wasn't his real name.
Red just figured that Green could help him, as the other boy did know him obviously, but Green left instead. He left before the nurses could tell Red that he'd lost his memory. They had some news clippings of him so he could try piecing his history together, it didn't look too good. There was a clipping missing, of course Red didn't mention Silph even though it was his only memory.
He had to relearn how pokeballs work and meet his team all over again. No lying he actually cried a bit realizing how many memories he'd lost. Of course that Lapras, who he was sure didn't belong to him, licked his face until he calmed down.
By the time he was allowed to wander the hospital, he was training with his Pokémon. Practicing hard and getting used to handling his team.
Red then went to the Viridian Gym to face more of those stupid spinning pads of course. Giovanni had a big thing for getting people dizzy didn't he? He had a brief moment of wondering how this guy survived the massacre but it was no longer a problem at that moment.
The battle with Giovanni took down one of the walls of the gym and that's how Red exited the building, his Charizard following after him as Char was the Pokémon he'd finished the battle with. Char spread his wings and roared. Now Red's task was to fight through Victory Road and the Champion.
He went through Victory Road with the help of Lapdog, Pika and Vee. Of course Vee and Pika were the two red switched between on his way up.
Red and his team fought their way to the champion and came face to face with Green. Of course Green started the battle before Red could catch his breath and ask what his name actually was. It was a long, tiring battle. Red was a little disappointed when it ended, because that meant an end to their meeting.
Red tried to get to talking to Green after the match but Professor Oak arrived and whisked Red away after a rather cruel word to... Maybe he and Green were related? Red didn't know. He doubted that he had known before the car accident that left him with huge gaps in his memory. Red looked back at Green while he was being dragged away to get his team registered as the new champion, having defeated Green in somewhat of a record breaking ending of his term as champion.
~
Red tried to find Green after to talk to him, but he wasn't anywhere to be found. Lance told him he'd left for other regions. This wasn't good news to Red, who packed up his gear and went to head out after his somewhat Rival. He had Vee and Char work together to get him from Kanto to the next region, and began region hopping, stopping in Hoenn to let his Pokémon recover and camp out a bit while he waited.
Red fell asleep at some point and woke up to a Houndoom digging about in his bag looking for food. Red stood up and walked over, startling the Dark Pokémon into running into the nearby brush. Red pulled some Pokémon food out of the bag and started to prepare it, setting it out for the canine as the hellhound dog approached again, goaded by hunger.
It took two weeks for Hound to be okay with entering a pokeball and joining Red's team, and by then he and his Team were ready to go on. Travelling was growing easier for Vee and Char with practice though they still had to alternate and take breaks.
It took time but they made it through the other regions, which hadn't heard of Green, so by process of elimination, Red entered Remoor with his team on high hopes.
Of course... he'd need a place to stay. Vee teleported them to a mountain near Oblitus Aevus at Red's request, as he didn't want to be triggered into using his powers accidentally, and he hadn't really interacted with anyone at all since after the accident that took his memory. Humans were as much a mystery to him as he himself was.
~
Thanks mainly to Vee's Psychic powers and Saur's vines, Red and his team built a log mansion up there on the mountain, and they made sure it was secure, safe and live-able. Hound and Char provided ample heat to the inside of the building and Pika had a blast playing with the electricity.
Red had acquired a laptop to see if he could relearn how to be social through it, he piggybacked someone else's signal with Vee's help.
Of course he couldn't always connect to the internet so he took up several experimental hobbies such as painting. Of course Blast liked to swap around the paints on Red but that didn't matter to Red, he only needed to recognize what was black and what was not black in order to paint.

Pokémon:
Name: Pika
Species: Pikachu
Level: 64
Gender: Male
Ability: Static
Personality: A dependable and loyal friend, Pika is always looking after Red. He has been since Red was fresh out of the hospital with only the nickname 'Red' to identify himself with. Of course he has been trying his best to track down Red's real name, but hasn't really had much luck in his searches. Pika is the most like Red's original personality before the 'incident'. He will help someone in trouble no matter who they are to him.
Attacks:
- Volt Tackle
- Surf
- Volt Switch
- Thunder
- Magnet Rise
- Electro Ball
- Wish
- Iron Tail
Name: Saur
Species: Venusaur
Level: 60
Gender: Male
Ability: Overgrow
Personality: Saur, or 'Flower' as Red likes to refer to him, is more of a lone wolf kind of Pokemon. If Red wasn't living on top of a mountain he'd probably be roaming about all over the place. He joined Red's team simply because he liked the way the trainer ran things. Red was efficient at leading, and Saur liked that. Saur was fine on his own, but Red had impressed him, so he decided to follow that.
Attacks:
- Frenzy Plant
- Grass Pledge
- Seed Bomb
- Leaf Storm
- Grasswhistle
- Magical Leaf
- Poison Powder
- Venoshock
Name: Char
Species: Charizard
Level: 58
Gender: Male
Ability: Blaze
Personality: He was abandoned as a charmander, left out in an almost record breaking rainstorm. Red rescued the little one and ran to the Pokémon center with the little charmander in his arms. It seemed the fire type had gained an intense hate of humans from being abandoned, so Red held him down as the nurses checked the Pokémon to make sure it was okay. Red grew to be the only human Char trusted, and the Pokémon was quite violent when it came to encountering other trainers.
Attacks:
- Sky Drop
- Fly
- Blast Burn
- Fire Pledge
- Mega Kick
- Shadow Claw
- Heat Wave
- Dragon Claw
Name: Blast
Species: Blastoise
Level: 57
Gender: Male
Ability: Torrent
Personality: Given to him by a police officer during his travels, Blast is a bit rowdy. He's the kind of guy willing to pick a fight and go through with it, no matter who with. He and Red actually don't get along very well unless they're focusing on a Pokémon battle. Blast hates the way Red goes about his battles and Red hates the way Blast keeps trying to start a fight with him.
Attacks:
- Hydro Canon
- Water Pledge
- Hydro Pump
- Dynamicpunch
- Blizzard
- Rest
- Skull Bash
- Mimic
Name: Lapdog
Species: Lapras
Level: 50
Gender: Male
Ability: Water Absorb
Personality: Lapdog already came with a nickname on him. Red came across his pokeball in the midst of the Silph incident and pocketed it to see if he could return the Pokémon to its rightful owner. It wasn't until a few days after the incident, that Red learned the Pokémon's original trainer was one of the rockets who'd died in Silph. This was right around when the murder attempts started on him. Lapdog is actually strangely loyal, even though Red was the cause of his trainer's death and he knows it. He doesn't actually talk much as he had been used in Rocket experiments at the will of his trainer, but is a very friendly and cuddly Lapras.
Attacks:
- Ice Shard
- Perish Song
- Brine
- Freeze Dry
- Sheer Cold
- Thunder
- Sing
- Future Sight
Name: Vee
Species: Espeon
Level: 55
Gender: Male
Ability: Synchronize
Personality: Vee is a very timid Espeon, he was experimented on by Rocket when he was a newly hatched Eevee. Red received him from a trainer battle with a Rocket grunt. The Rocket had no money, so he threw his 'useless' Pokémon at Red as payment instead. Vee bonded very well with Red and while he is willing to talk to other trainers, he will refuse to have anything to do with any other human than Red, as Red treated him better than any of the Rockets had.
Attacks:
- Future Sight
- Psychic
- Morning Sun
- Last Resort
- Grass Knot
- Shadow Ball
- Yawn
- Trump Card
Name: Hound
Species: Houndoom
Level:54
Gender: Male
Ability: Early Bird & Flash Fire
Personality: Hound actually was met on a route. Red caught him stealing his supper. Hound is more of a scrapper than Blast, but entirely willing to follow Red's commands, as Red actually took him in and shared that meal with the canine. A bit too loyal, Hound is fully willing to do anything for his trainer as he knows that no matter what, Red will see to it that he's looked after at the end of the battle. For a supposed hell hound, Hound is one of Red's most dependable Pokémon.
Attacks:
- Inferno
- Beat Up
- Flame Charge
- Counter
- Foul Play
- Night Slash
- Payback
- Fire Blast
Name: Maia
Species: Druddigon
Level: 41
Gender: Female
Ability: Rough Skin
Origins: Eggs crushed by a passerby, attempted to attack Aubre. Captured by Red
Personality: Maia is a very defensive creature who takes pride in her territory. She doesn't like humans for they always find a way to take away the things she loves, (hence the eggs that were crushed). If provoked, it isn't uncommon for her to try and and eat a human. She is dangerous and aggressive and extreme caution should be taken around this former mother.
Attacks:
- Dragon Breath
- Dragon Claw
- Crunch
- Revenge
- Night Slash
- Fire Fang
- Dragon Tail
- Slash

ROLE-PLAYING SAMPLE:
Sean stood inside the Lobby of Silph, looking around as he walked through the seemingly empty area, Pika hopping along at his heels. It was far too empty. So it made sense that Sean practically jumped out of his skin as an almost deafening blast went off and then a crash. He looked over his shoulder to see the Employee of the Month picture had a hole in the guy's forehead. Sean swallowed nervously and fell back onto his butt, startled and trying to calm his racing heart. Pika came to his defense, sparking while glaring at the approaching human. Sean had never seen a gun before, it could have been because all of the grunts he'd run into before now weren't high enough on the evil minion ladder to warrant a firearm.
He was naturally terrified. Here was this guy, leveling a gun at his face. Pika ran at the Rocket grunt and tackled him as hard as his little mouse body could. The second shot from the gun hit the ceiling. Sean's thoughts jumped back into the present and got to his feet, how was he going to get out of there? He was a kid with just Pokémon!
"Oh by Arceus..." he whispered to himself, whistling for his Pokémon to come back over to him as he ran for the stairs. By then the rest of the Rockets on the floor had been alerted and Sean was now a target. He hid behind a wall as a bullet went by, then ducked under a desk. The rockets were frantic in their search for him, so he put Pika back in his ball.
Red looked for a way out only to find himself cornered my several Rockets, unarmed he begged them not to do it. They each pulled back on the safety as Sean pressed his back against the wall. Something in him snapped then.
"STOP! I DON'T WANT TO DIE HERE!" Red shouted. Then the Rockets did something funny, they stopped...Then they looked rather confused, like they couldn't believe that they weren't shooting him.
"Trying to murder an unarmed person, You should die yourselves," he frowned at them.
Sean's eyes widened at what they did next. Each Rocket in front of him lifted their gun to right under their chin, a few resisted more than others. Some almost managed to lower their gun but...
Something dark hit the wall on the other side of the hallway. Red didn't exactly recognize it as blood at first as the world had no color to him. But when he noticed none of the Rockets were moving any more he began to panic. He ran through the halls, scared, he passed by Rockets where were just as shell shocked as him and then his foot landed on a pokeball, tripping him and landing him on the floor. He looked down and... Oh god...
He stood up then slowly reached down and grabbed hold of the blood coated pokeball he'd tripped on. Every Rocket in Silph that was still alive was fleeing or had already fled the building. Red went to run out himself, but he had to find a back way out. He wasn't about to try explaining to the Police what he'd done.[/blockquote]
