BASIC INFORMATION:
Full Name: Avalon Heather Roseland
Nickname(s): Ava, Avvie
Gender: Female
Age: 36
Allegiance: Neutral
Occupation (Position): Jewelsmith
Species: Mutant
- With her voice box destroyed, this leaves her with no way to communicate with people other than through Brynn, so her body developed a solution soon after the incident took place. It's a variation of a psychic ability. This has given her a way of communicating with others, though not through words. She can project images or scenes (like her thoughts turned into a movie) into the minds of others, but only when one of her hands comes into contact with their skin.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:
Hair: Blue and curly, usually worn down.
Eye Color: Pink.
Height: 5'7''
Build: Very average, though a tiny bit on the skinny side
Skintone: Pale
Other Appearance Information: With past experiences, her mind has needed something to keep its focus off of old and excruciatingly painful memories, and the focus shifted to the physical body. She exercises on a daily basis, which has given her a generally strong and healthy physique. Nothing about her is overly large at all. In fact, to others, she may even look underfed or like she has an eating disorder, but she's just built that way naturally. There may seem to be very little meat on any of her bones, but at least they don't show and she's perfectly healthy, other than obvious things. Her metabolism is just high due to the amount of time she spends exercising. It's nothing unhealthy and is actually recommended for the average person. Once they came in, her breasts never went above a medium sized C-cup, and she's certainly not complaining.
Her hair is not anything she gets from her parents. It is in fact a recessive gene common in her family's bloodline, and something she probably received from her great grandmother. It's not very long when one just looks at it, but that's because of the thick ringlets each strand curls into. It's sleek and shining, and a hair never seems to be out of place. Once again, this is a result of good and even the recessive genes. The hair color was off from her parents by a long shot, but it has made her quite the beauty. The hue is a beautiful shade of blue, resting on the verge between light and dark, often leaning towards one or the other depending on the lighting. Her eyes are a severe contrast to her hair. Well proportionate on her face and surrounded by naturally thicker lashes, the irises shine a bright hue of pink. They're quite vibrant and, for the most part, shine happily.
She seems to have a bit of a thing for tattoos. This one rests on the base of her neck, representing her mother's favorite flower and the piano and cello she herself is capable of playing. This is on her left side, just below the ribs, and this is on her right side. They represent and remind her of what she's gone through, and how she's capable of completely moving on. It reminds her how much stronger she's become because of it. This one is located on her left shoulder blade, a bit of a tribute to her religious beliefs in Arceus and the gods he created. These are on the insides of her wrists, each one representing her parents. These words rest around the birds, her mother's favorite lesson when she was little. And this last one is on the right side of her collarbone, and has more of a deeper meaning to her that she won't share with anyone.
The woman has scars a plenty. From when she was once held captive and tortured, scars remain mostly on her back, arms, and legs. Nothing scarred her face or stomach or chest. Most of these scars are long lines, but aren't very deforming. Most of them are faint pink lines, where the skin is slightly puckered. The most noticeable scar is the one on the front of her neck. It's deep and puckered badly, one line crossing over another in the form of an awkward X. This is where her neck was sliced up and what else resulted of the attack instead of losing her voice.

- HAPPY -- All the time, she can't help but be this way. She always smiles at people and seems to put everything behind her. She deals with her pain in a better way than most people, and there will be very few times that anyone will find her in a bad mood.
- FRIENDLY -- She has a hard time finding people who don't like her, because she doesn't really give them a reason to. She is always kind and respectful to others, treating them how she wishes to be treated. Even if there are those who are rude, she doesn't work herself up over it. She doesn't see the point.
- RELIGIOUS -- She believes in Arceus and prays to him, believes in the gods that he created for the different purposes of the world. She respects them and him all the same, regularly attending one of the churches. This is really what helps her to cope and to stand strong, and she doesn't want it taken from her.
- STUBBORN -- She refuses to go down a certain road, to fall the way others in her life have. Once she has her mind set on something, she refuses to change it. This is part of her strong will, too, even if it would crumble under certain circumstances.
- PTSD -- This gives her horrible flashbacks and vivid nightmares often times, even when she manages to stave it off. While she tries to let it not affect her daily life, it can sometimes be seen in her exhaustion and her frequent power naps. This also makes her somewhat paranoid.
- CAUTIOUS -- After everything that has happened to her, between Matthew's debt and Eustace's craving for sex, it's no wonder this is part of her. Even with the walls built around the city, she still fears the possibility of the man she was forcefully engaged to returning. She is also wary of rather flirtatious men, a deeper fear that they could be the same way.
BACKGROUND:
History:
Avalon was born under normal circumstances to a normal family, one that didn't have too much money and didn't have too little either. Sometimes the did very well and other times they barely managed to scrape by. Being their only child, she was kept happy and often out of the loop when things seemed to get pretty bad. She was always a good and happy child, finding very little fault with the world and the things that were in it. She would always smile and laugh. Around the age if five, she was given her first Pokemon. A little Ralts that she decided to call Brynn. It did not take very long for the pair of them to become very close friends, spending every waking and even sleeping moment with one another. Nothing could separate them, and as they grew together, so did their bond. Her mother swore up and down it was stronger than steel. Her daughter did have human friends, but Brynn was the closest of them all and nothing that ever happened would change that.
Nothing overly exciting happened in her younger years. Average family, average life. She always believed her parents were happy, even when her mother was diagnosed with cancer when she was ten years old. She didn't really understand at the time, but would come to eventually. It took its toll on her father, though, and he began to get greedy for more money. At first it had been for the purpose if getting her mother the best treatment, but then it turned into an addiction. While her mother, Jillian, practically lived in the hospital, her father, Matthew, spent his time with all of the wrong people. Avalon spent her time at school working hard, even making little trinkets for her mother, promising they would help her to get better if she wore them. This was, more or less, the start of her career in being a jewel smith. The hobby seemed to grow into a practices thing, using whatever she could and molding it into a necklace or a bracelet or something else.
Avalon and her mother did not know of what her father was getting himself into, but it revealed itself when Brynn, now a Kirlia, ran to Jillian in a panic. She told her that she could not find Avalon, despite having been with her all day. She had run off to get something for her and, upon coming back, the blue haired young teen was nowhere to be found. Now thirteen years old, Avalon was not capable of defending for herself as she was a prime age for certain predators. This was their fear at the time, but Matthew came to them and hesitantly explained where she was. He began where everything started and to where he was now, how he owed these people a lot of money, and how they had her now because he screwed up. He showed them the video that they had sent them, where Avalon was bound by her wrists and ankles, tied to a chair in the corner of some dank and unwelcoming room. Jillian was furious, but the situation only worsened her health.
These people demanded things of him, things he could not me to the fullest extent. He always came close, mere inches from achieving the goal for the week, but never could quite reach it. And there were repercussions for such failures. Every time he failed to reach what they demanded of him, they sent the family a video of Avalon being subjected to a level of torture, which became worse with each passing week. Brynn was in a horribly maddened state and determined to find her friend, despite how angry she was at the man who gifted her to the girl. Every time a video came, she would attempt to trace the signature of where it had gone and where it came from. She was too young, too weak. She could not trace the signature far enough, even though she got closer and closer each time things got worse. When they notified police. The torture got worse, and escalated to rape. It was one of the videos that was sent to them, and it worsened as the weeks dragged on.
The men were increasingly irritated with Matthew's inability to comply with their demands. There was one week where he did not comply or even try to meet their demand at all. Sending live feed, they showed Avalon strapped to a table and a man with tools. Without warning, he began hacking at her body, moving from her feet to her throat, though skipped most of the front side of her body. He mentioned something about taking that beautiful voice away and went after her jugular. Her screams died away into a horrid gurgling, the blood streaming its bright, crimson self across her skin. It wasn't enough to kill her, but she had clearly lost her will to fight and her ability to speak. As if by some stroke of luck, the doors were broken down and police flooded the area.
Avalon had been missing for nearly a year, and there was a news story to cover everything about it, including exploiting her father for everything he did. She was taken to the hospital immediately after she was found, dragged to an OR and put under to operate on the lacerations she was given. She was stitched and healed up carefully, bandaged and taken to a room to rest. Hooked up to a few machines and numerous IVs, she remained asleep for days in her disheveled state, the medicines slowly healing her. When she did wake up, she was ravenous and ate whatever the nurses would bring her for food. The doctor considered it a happy and healthy appetite. Jillian came to visit her, just a floor above her daughter, and prayed with her. She helped her believe that Arceus would heal her body, and would help her with her now lack of ability to speak.
The maiming and even the surgery to repair what was damaged left its mark, scars marring parts of her body that she couldn't show off for a while. With her mother's blessing, Avalon went off with Brynn to become a trainer for a while, but kept close tabs on her mother's health. Her father went back to his normal job and stayed out of trouble, at least to their knowledge. Jillian's daughter went around a few regions in the next four years, training and gathering a Pokemon team she came to love. Brynn evolved once more, into Gardevoir, and easily became Avalon's translator, since she could not talk. When she returned home, though, she wanted to share some good news with her mother. And when she went to her in the hospital, she pressed her hand to her cheek and showed her what they'd done in the last four years.
The ability to transfer memories, pictures, and scenes into peoples' minds had come to her while she had gone. And it only strengthened her belief in Arceus, because he had given her a way to communicate despite her voice box being completely destroyed. It had come on her eighteenth birthday, and now that she was nineteen and back with her mother, things seemed to want to go well. Jillian was incredibly happy for her daughter, glad to get to see everything she had been doing while she was away. Unfortunately, considering she was legally disabled in the eyes of her city, Avalon was left to the care of her parents, even though she could care for herself. The city had always had odd rules and she didn't mind them. Although, her fear spiked once more when Jillian's cancer finally got the better of her and took her life, leaving her only daughter with a man that could relapse back into old habits.
That was not exactly what he did, but something along those lines. He became increasingly greedy once more for money, and not for the inheritance they both received from Jillian's life insurance policy. Matthew just wanted more, and he had good connections in his job. He found out his boss had a son near Avalon's age and the pair of them set up an engagement for them. It would be good for the company, but would give Matthew more money. The son's name was Eustace, a name that was a bit of a family heirloom, but he was in no way classified as a dork. He was a handsome young man with a thing for getting his way with women. When Avalon was told, she figured she would at the very least try, but when Eustace was left alone with her and attempted coming onto her, she was out of the deal then and there.
Matthew was furious, and Brynn kept them at bay, assisting her friend in beginning the plot of changing her name and running off. This took time, until she was at least twenty three years old. When the time came around, it was late one night and she left with her Pokemon. She took her inheritance with her and legally changed her last name to something very common for the area the following day. Brynn and the other Pokemon were with her as she ran away, moving to another region where she would be more safe. She lived in Johto, Kanto, Hoenn, and Unova over an eight year expanse, being sure to move every now and then to make sure Eustace didn't find her. That was her biggest fear. She continued with her jewelry making, turning it into a small business of her own. She doesn't spend her inheritance all that often, and only when she really needs to.
Avalon had a close encounter with Eustace once in Unova and quickly made her escape into Remoor, close to when the war ended. When the walls were closed up around the city, she felt safe and went about her business. She has managed in a short five year range to make a couple contracts with a few jewelry boutiques to provide them with a few unique pieces. She sells them out of her home and online within the city as well. She doesn't go outside the walls and makes a decent, happy, living.
