" c u r i o s i t y . . . is lying in wait to learn every . . . s e c r e t "
The sun was still yawning, hanging low in the morning sky and sending soft shafts of sunlight to dapple the waking earth below. The lake shone in its morning splendor as the early spring breeze gently caressed its shimmering surface. In the boughs of the trees that hugged its beaches, the bird Pokémon sang wistfully in their attempt to wake the world below. Remoor was just beginning to stir, preparing for the new day, but someone was already awake and relaxing after a busy day.
The water Pokémon rose with the moon and was usually asleep before noon, but what else would you expect from a nocturnal Pokémon like her? Perhaps it was her heritage, that one part of her father's dark type genes that kept her up at night, or maybe it was her always buzzing mind, full of unanswered questions but whatever the cause Echo slept little. She spent her nights patrolling her new home, mentally noting every difference from the night before and pondered its cause, its effect, and why such a thing would happen. She stalked her prey for hours before finally giving in to her belly's demands. This Vaporeon loved to see, loved to question, loved to learn.
And so, this is where Echo is found, floating on the the surface of the lake, gazing up at the brightening sky, pondering her latest obsession.
Humans.
Strange, two legged creatures that were definitely not Pokémon, according to her friend Sigh. They had no powers like Pokémon did, but they had weapons. No smarts, but they were very clever. On days when she was feeling particularly brave, Echo would swim up river and wiggle her way into the sewer system to spy on those weird creatures from the grates under their feet. Today had not been such a day, however. Instead she'd spent it memorizing the flora of the area. It was exhausting work and kind of dull, sleepiness tugged at her consciousness as she wondered if tomorrow would be the same. But who knew? Maybe something interesting would happen?

Riley surveyed the area. It was light out, and her pokemon, though tired, were looking around for anything to attack or kill. All except for Kip, who had decided to run ahead, shouting, "Hey! Hey! Hey!" spouts of water shot from her mouth, creating a light, temporary mist. She was trying to get the attention of the singing bird pokemon in the area. Obviously, they were not in the party mood.
"Hey, Kip, no offense, but they don't like you." Riley said this with a yawn at the end, and with water shotting off in the distance to tell her, leave me be. However rude this action was, it was a huge step for the mudfish pokemon, as just months before, she would be on the verge of tears. This was growth, and any rebellion could easily be curbed, especially since the baby pokemon of the group was in absolute gaga over her trainer. Riley smiled, which Kip saw and continued shouting. This was the way of life.
What had triggered that way of life was the hill just opposite of them on the lake's walkway. The hill still incited fear in her pokemon, fear of what could and most likely will happen in the future. When each pokemon grew the heart to look over in that vicinity, their bodies grew rigid. They would dare a look at Riley, and Riley would meet their gaze. When Kip did this, Riley said, "Well, this is the first time we've been back, huh? I killed her pokemon. And I'd do it again." --to which Kip flinched--"Ad I expect you all to do the same if it happens to you.."
The damper on the morning had not been what the blue-eyed was expecting. "Kip, go play in the lake. Sly, go make sure she won't get eaten." As expected, the pokemon did as they were told, with Fluffy fixated on a point in the water. "Fluffy, glare." The pokemon paused, waiting for the right moment, then used a glare attack at the water. A second passed, and the fang snake pokemon shot into the water, scarfing down a pokemon or a normal fish. What a beautiful sunrise.

It was the sudden shift in the birdsong that drifted down to the lake that brought the water Pokémon back from the edge of a well deserved nap. Something had changed, and even drowsiness would not allow anything to slip through Echo's detail oriented mind. Unmoving, not even to breathe, she listened intently, reading the sounds that she knew so well. Someone was approaching. As her large violet eyes slid open slowly, new sounds reached her fin-esque ears. Voices, strange ones, both human and Pokémon alike, foot steps, wing beats. The water echoed the smallest sound, vibrating across its smooth surface. Very slowly, she let herself sink only to reappear a few yards closer. Still at a safe distance, she watched the small group walk along the lake shore. With her fins flat against her head, her luminescent lure and markings almost extinguished by her slow heartbeat, she was nothing more than a small bump on the glassy surface. The human was the first to catch her eyes. Long and slim and draped in black with a long tawny mane, to many a Pokémon she would seem normal, probably easily mistaken for any other two-legger. But even at this distance, Echo drank in every detail. How she walked, how she talked, every aspect was intriguing to think about. She should get closer. But the group of Pokémon held her back. Her gaze was just turning to them when the small blue one turned and dove into her lake, sending ripples that shattered the mirror effect of the still water. Her large eyes widened with fear when she saw the blue flyer follow the tiny blue one, heading her way. Biting back a small cry, she almost didn't realize the snake Pokémon was staring at her until the human spoke. "Fluffy, glare."Panic flooded her veins like ice cold water and instinctively, her Acid Armor ability kicked in just as the Pokémon lunged forward. Echo melted away, fleeing, but while she was invisible, her trail of bubbles and fear scent was far from it.

Riley was no pokemon. Her eyes were not as keen as her pokemon counterparts, her skills not as refined. Though, what they lacked was a coherent synergy of tactics, of manipulating the margins to turn a situation over on its back. Riley was one smart cookie, that was for sure, sharp skills or not. And her attention to detail was good for a human, not amazing but definitely average. When the snake pokemon ate its morning meal, it was not satisfied. It had a face that immediately set off alarms for the trainer. She may not be able to read the world as well as some pokemon, but she could read people and her pokemon, and she knew something. A pokemon is near.
Was this a dangerous pokemon? One just watching? She didn't let an ounce of her react to any stimuli from her pokemon's distress signals. Her pokemon Sly's glances over to her were dismissed as a natural trainer would. This pokemon would have to be smart, or strong, for her pokemon not to go on a full-on assault. They were actually scared!
Her Marshtomp was probably the most oblivious pokemon to be created, because throughout this whole ordeal, she was splashing water and giggling. Riley giggled with the mud fish pokemon. To an outsider, the scene was very normal, with some anomalies that could easily be brushed away. In truth, the two more mature pokemon were tense and wary, with their trainer just as alert. Kip helped with making the whole event seem like an actual fun outing, which it had intended to be.
"Kip, I think I'm going in.And, if some pokemon were to be watching, just know that any, any smoke and mirror tricks you are playing will be easily disengaged. And if you are found, I'll kill you myself." There. It was out, and Riley took off her black cocktail dress easily, showing a set of bikini clothes underneath. Hopefully, any pokemon trying to be conspicuous left the area. Or they had some seriously great hiding techniques.
Come and get me, pokemon. I dare you.
OOC: Hello! Sorry for the wait, but I had some graduation stuff to do! Now I am here every day to post! Don't hate me, and keep being amazing~!

Worry not, you are fine, dear. I am quite used to my roleplay partners taking their time with replies. It doesn't bother me. Thank you for posting by the way! I was worried no one would want to play with my little Echo.
Out of curiosity, what are your intentions for this roleplay? "Getting" this human was the last thing a coward-in-denial like Echo wanted to do right now as her light and invisible body sank into the darkness that coated the lake bottom, shivering under the eyes that had yet to catch her. Her heart pounded in her ears as her night-rings began to pulse slightly, reacting to her fear, though only achieving to make her more afraid. She didn't want to be seen and, of course, it was just her luck to have her body turn against her by emitting a dull, pulsating glow. Stop. Calm down. Relax. Echo tried her best to slow her rapid heartbeat. It took a few moments, but she managed to succeed, turning off her 'fright-light'. Once the panic melted, thoughts eagerly prodded their way into her mind. Some about the Pokémon, but most about the human. Who was she? How did she know she was there? Was she dangerous? No, that was the wrong question. All humans were dangerous, Sigh had told her so. How dangerous was she? There, that was more fitting. Settled by now, Echo wondered if she could test it and, if she did, would the results be worth the risk. It seemed like ages she was down there hiding, thinking, lost in her thoughts, until Echo shook off the sand that had settled on her and drifted towards the bank. She kept her distance, no doubt about that. The ripples from the water-type playing by the shore barely touched here. She surfaced under the draping tendrils of a lake willow that hung over the water a good fifty feet away from where they were. Lurking in its welcome shadows, she spied her, watching, learning, waiting for her moment. Minutes passed, and when it had seemed as though the female had lowered her guard, Echo took her turn. Flicking her tail hard under water, her Water Pulse sped threw the water, hitting a rock near the edge of the lake perhaps ten feet from the Human. It did the rock no harm, but caused a splash that she hoped would catch her attention.

Riley spoke what she wanted to say. She waited, and of course, nothing. The girl and her pokemon were not stupid, but they were very used to trickery. This pokemon was not identified as of yet, so it must be pretty special to get past a Gligars senses. She did a double-take once, though it was nothing out of the ordinary: A Magikarp. Well, she could play the waiting game, too.
She decided that wary frivolity would be the easiest guise, as it was the most believable. It started to wear down on the girl and her pokemon, as being on one's toes is hard to do for hours, let while being "happy and carefree." Kip flew around in the waters safely, so the pokemon couldn't be too close, which made Riley feel comfortable. Rigid, but less inconspicuously so. She was playing with her Marshtomp, trying to get her snake pokemon Seviper into the water when the splash hit.
Thank Arceus that the girl had been playing with her pokemon, because when the water pulse made impact, Riley paid no more attention to it than to Kip. Her sudden realization of Kip not creating the splash was a shock to her, though she kept up the facade. Her face indicated that she was still having fun, she continued to coo her poison-type futilely. The splash made her pokemon worry, and they kept up this guise terribly. She knew this and let it be a message to the entity trying to get her attention: It'll take a lot more to surprise me.
However coy and in-control the girl looked, she was slightly nervous, slightly worried, and had a huge rush of adrenaline, especially when she saw that Kip was not the pokemon to create the splash. What pokemon could it be? Could it be capturable? Is it deadly? The more she thought, the more she wanted to meet this creature lurking in the depths. Or fight it. Well, all she could do now was wait for another interaction and go from there.
OOC: Hi! My intentions...hm....Well, this was Riley's first post, so nothing really! I just wanted to get her doing things. Sorry if she's a little strong, haha. I think whatever you want to do with this thread, you can do! Riley is a bit...abrasive, but she's rational and can be persuaded out of a fight that may or may not happen!

Terribly sorry about how long this took! I am participating in five large meta events happening on my other roleplaying sites, and I've been incredibly busy with work. I'll do better, I promise~ With wide, violet eyes, the dark Vaporeon watched as the Water Pulse made its impact. With a careful and measured gaze, she drank in the sight before her, waiting for the reaction. Even from here, she could see that the distress of the human's Pokémon, all except the Water-type, who continued to play happily. But the human girl? Nothing. Not a single thing. Echo released a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding, but instead of relief, she felt disappointment. Barely a reaction at all! Biting her lip, she waiting thinking, measuring her options. If she got closer, she could be noticed. But she had learned all that she could from this distance. If she were to be seen, what would the human do? Try and capture her in one of those tiny balls? Fight her? Try and kill her? She didn't want that. The deep blue Pokémon eyed over the human's Pokémon carefully. Two she knew, vaguely, but the third was a stranger to her knowledge. The water-type, she believed, as she soaked up its details, was a Marshtomp, the evolved form of Mudkip. Quite rare, but she had seen a small family of them in the swamp land on her way to the City Dwell. Not very fast but it would hit hard, if she got close enough. The land Pokémon, she had also seen on her travels, a large snake who lived in the grass and spat poison. Well, she had poison, too! She felt her spines harden and flex, offering their sharp points to anyone who dared to try and touch her. With both Vaporeon and Umbreon DNA, she was definitely built for health and had all kinds of defenses. But she wasn't sure if that would help her with the final Pokémon, the blue flyer. What did it do? What were it's strengths? It's weaknesses? She had no idea. What to do? She thought it over intently before dipping down below the water's surface and slowly edged her way closer, making sure to stay deep enough not to be seen from above by the flier that floated above. Ever so carefully she reappeared about thirty feet away, hiding herself in the thick reeds and plants that choked this side of the lake. Once agian, her tail flicked and another Water Pulse sped through the water, this time speeding past the woman's legs, missing her by barely a foot. Ear-fins widely spread, she waited to see what the human would do next.

Riley's foot jerked--partly in surprise, partly from the sheer force of the attack. Riley surmised the attack was a water pulse or short blast of a water gun attack, which didn't help to discern he pokemon species at all. The girl's face reacted in a more troubled manner. To her, the pokemon was toying with her and wanted to get her attention, or the pokemon was getting bored of the woman's apathy. Well, if it's entertainment the pokemon wanted, it's what she'll give it.
Riley's face contorted in anguish, and she let her leg fall to the ground. She then in an instant was on her knees in the water. She started crying violently, then wailing. Then she got up, her face red, and she screamed. Loudly. She rang and echoed and went higher as the air left her lungs. Then, she chuckled. Her head dipped a bit, and she laughed louder. She laughed until her volume was almost as loud as screaming. She did variations of high emotional screams and laughs and jeers and moans. She did this for a few minutes, which unsettled even her own pokemon. However, which made the who scenario more perverse, the little marshtomp went with it. Pretending to be angry or sad, eventually playing again. It was a horrific sight, which is what she wanted.
The girl then wiped the sweat on her face off and pointed in the general vicinity of the blast. "Sludge, Giga Drain, Cross Poison. Kill it." Her marshtomp shot a sludge ball into the bed of reeds first, darkening the water quickly with the toxic poison. The water was soon a disgusting poison that would surely affect everything in the area. The next pokemon was the Gligar, who shot at lightning fast speed towards the reeds. In one second the reeds were cut to the water's height, and they were a black that could only hint at death. The seviper was last, but certainly not any less devastating. With no direct target, the pokemon absorbed the life of the area around it. Big patches of land went dry, and the water soon turned stagnant. The very life of the side of the lake was dying.
"Now, please tell me, who are you? I promise I won't kill you, but your home? I can't promise that."

I'll be transferring my account to the new Remoor very soon, though I think it'd be best if we finished this here. Echo stared at the human girl unblinkingly, large deep violet eyes drinking in every action and reaction, her expression a look of confusion. She had anticipated quite a few scenarios, some ending well, some not so much, others involving a battle or diplomacy or flight. None, however, involved this...strange display. So many emotions flashed over the human's face. Fear, anger, rage. Tears fell heavily from the frenzied eyes of her subject of study. Terrible noises tore from her throat. Some sent chills through her, enough to make her spikes stand on end. Others pulled at her heart. Humans were strange creatures. Suddenly, those awe-filled curious eyes widened with complete and utter terror. 'Kill it'Fear filled her veins with ice, her heart beat so rapidly, she lost control of her stealth. The night-rings on her body shone brightly, completely revealing her location. She glimpsed those eyes, those terrifying eyes, once more before she darted below the surface, swimming down with all her strength, a trail of light following her down. Once she felt she was far enough down, she spun around, staring wildly at the darkening pool of death that sunk down further and further. Pokémon and other creatures fled, swimming around her to the safety of the other side of the lake. Terror shook her body as he watched her world die around her. Tears stung her eyes, so she squeezed them closed and screamed with all of her might. Her Echoed Voice sending erratic pulses through the lake's water. Without hesitation, she pumped her tail, propelling her upward as fast as she could as she screamed. "STOP!!" Her voice continued to shatter the air as she surfaced, spines flayed, drops of poison beading at their tips, her body shimmering and glowing in fear and adrenaline. She was in the center of the lake, breathing heavy, fangs bared. "Stop. Please."

Riley sat up on the rock while the waves smashed into it. Her marshtomp was finally becoming more aware to the dire situation. Seviper was inching her way to strike the pokemon, but she couldn't get that far from the shoreline. Riley's Gligar, though, paid less attention to the pokemon. It was weaker than anyone thought. It wasn't even a legendary. Riley couldn't believe such a pokemon could make that much noise.
The attacks subsided on their own, and Riley wasn't sending forth any more signals to attack. The girl waved one of her arms and shouted, "Hey, you pokemon, get over hear or I'll kill the rest of the lake!" She finished the phrase with a smile and a tiny giggle. The pulsing rings looked like an umbreon, but there was a lot of watery aspects to this umbreon. She had heard of pokemon meeting two stones at once and fusing terribly into both pokemon, but a pokemon of the night and of the water overtaking an eevee at the same time seemed a bit too farfetched for Riley.
"So, what are you and why are you here?"
