Steel gray eyes shifted from shelf to shelf, finding nothing of particular interest. It wasn't that their owner was lliterate, far from it in fact, he just didn't care for the contents. He found no point in books, and the brunt of whatever he read was paperwork. However, two of his 'pack' adored literature and did their best to read everything hey could get their paws on. Fiuth wasn't stupid, and knew to make his team happy in order to make them more effective. It was to that effect that he owned a smaller, personal library for their use only. And now, it was his turn to add to that. The gray eyes moved down from the shelf, and to the two furry shapes roving the aisles. One with fur of sable, one with fur of bone-white. He could see their heads brought closer at one point, and the faint sound of hushed debate reached his ears. At his feet, a green-shape twitched a leaf-like tail in agitation. Orchid cared for books even less then her master, and had no patience for it. If it was up to her, the other two would have to deal with what they could find in the compound. But it wasn't, so all she could do was voice and show her displeasure. She gave a faint growl, and the stern gray eyes dropped down to her.
"Hush, orchid. We won't be here for too much longer."
As if on cue, the other two canines seemed to have reached a conclusion. The houndoom reared back on his hind paws and reached for a somber black tome. Mephistopheles snagged the edge of the binding, and pulled the book away from its neighbors, and down. He gingerly snagged it with his teeth, and carried it over to the front counter. With his pokemon finding something of their interest, the administrator made his way to the counter as well. He was paying for the damn thing, after all.
And so it was that Fiuth walked out of the store with a large back, the book safely nesteled inside. His pokemon trailed after him, Orchid looked relieved to be done of the place while Erebus and Mephistopheles looked eager to read the new purchase.
Of course, the book wasn't the only thing the day had in store for the administrator, as he would soon find out.

Wild Furfrou Appeared! The streets were bustling with activity as a pair of Furfrou weaved their way around the crowd. The male and female poodles had once belonged to a rich couple, but they had grown tired of being ignored and simply being used as "something nice to look at it every now and again". So, when there masters had not been looking, Cleo and Demetri had escaped from a window carelessly left open. That had been three months ago. Their once freshly cut hair styles were beginning to grow new fur which caused it look disheveled and unappealing. Cleo, with her Heart Trim started to look dusty and dirty, the piece of heart fur having been ripped off, leaving a small bald spot where new growth was beginning to come in ,after a fight with another stray Pokemon. Demetri's skinny frame was riddled with fleas and it looked as though the dog had begun to develop the mange on his flanks. "This was a terrible idea." The male Furfrou barked at his mate, wishing they'd of just stayed at home and participated in the daily live ornament. Cleo snapped at the male, "We'll be fine! It's just taking some time to get used to it!" The dog was in denial, they were both in serious trouble. They were far from being street dogs. While the once beautiful poodles were bickering, Cleo felt her snout bump against something solid. A human! The dog jumped back, her red eyes staring at the human. No matter what Demetri said, she wasn't going back to the humans! "We're not going to become anyone else's live ornament!"

Fiuth had every intention of returning to the base. Of course, he'd probably not have the time to tuck the new book away in his private library. The two dark-types would want to read it as soon as they got back, and the administrator had every intention of letting them. He'd leave them to it while he probably caught up with his paperwork. He did what he could before he left, but he knew there would be more waiting for him. There always was. He almost regretted the promotion. It was simpler when he was on the front lines, or in the rank-and-file. Even a standard officer position was easier on his sanity. However, the powers that be had designated him to the position of responsibility. And he was damned if he was going to slack on the job just because he didn't like it. That was insulting, and Fiuth wouldn't have it.
Of course, he was too busy concentrating on the path to the base that he didn't notice the two bedraggled furfrou. He would yell at himself later for not having a situational awareness, but for the present it provided the opportunity for him to cross paths with the two canine pokemon. And the nudge in the back was enough to snap him back into his surroundings instead of the mountain of papwerwork that awaited him.
Orchid turned and growled, while Erebus and Mephistopheles both looked back inquisitively. Fiuth, being the one affected, turned to look down at the two pokemon. Inwardly, he winced at their condition. Upon coming to remoor where pokemon were more respected, he had found a fondness for canine pokemon. These two were definately canine pokemon, and it was evident that they weren't being taken care of in any way. Gray eyes met red.
"Ornament? You two are nothing of the sort."

Of course the human would say something like that. Of course they would, what else could you expect of them? Cleo, the female, was the one to take charge instead of her own mate. "That's what all you people seem to think. That we Furfrou are just something for you to dress up and tell to sit pretty, all day every day for the rest of our lives." The pink accented Furfrou growled, baring her teeth at the man. She did not trust him. Demetri, the male blue accented Fufrou, was a bit more docile and calm then his mate and usually didn't do anything rash. "Cleo, please don't do anything you'll regret. You're just hungry and frustrated.." The canine whimpered but the other dog wasn't going to listen to reason. She felt as though every human was her enemy and would do the same thing as their previous masters had done. As the male stepped forward. Cleo also stepped forward towards the human, teeth bared and soon she was running at the man. The female Furfrou used headbutt!

Fiuth frowned at the female's retort. It was obvious now, what had happened. The two were probably purchased as some rich fool's living ornamentation and hadn't cared for it. The human had gotten careless with the pokemon, and they had escaped. Street life did them no favors, however, and neither were suited to it in temperament or in ability it seemed. They were both in sorry condition, and silently the administrator berated whoever had owned them before. The male seemed to be the voice of caution, but the female seemed ever the aggressor. He couldn't help but make a connection to Orchid who was scowling down at his feet tot he two furfrou. Mephisto and Erebus had a different outlook, and both looked at the other dogs in curiosity.
Before the administrator could make a reply, the female pokemon launched an attack. Holding a hand out to restrain Orchid before she could retaliate, Fiuth watched her advance calmly. The air around him thickened, and Cleo would find it hard to continue her attack. It would be like running through molasses, with the substance thickening for every step she took.
Calmly, Fiuth looked down at both of them. "Do my pack look like ornamentation to you? One normally doesn't purchase items for ornaments to enjoy." He hefted the small bag with Mephisto's book. "Are you going to continue this foolishness? Or will you allow me to buy you lunch?"

Wild Furfrou Appeared! The male canine would cower in fear behind his beloved mate as she charged forward blindly at the human. However, Cleo's attack was soon put on hold by some mysterious power that the human possessed. The dirtied female would continue to growl and snap her jaws as she tried to wiggle her way out of the 'trap'. Yet, there was no escape. She was trapped. Demetri, the male, whimpered in fear behind his mate. (One would think that the male would be the one to jump to his mate's defenses) "Please human, don't bring harm to us, especially not to my Cleo. She's all I have." The blue dog begged as he walked forward, his head lowered and his tail between his legs in a submissive gesture. "She's usually never like this sir, she's just confused from her hungry and exhaustion. Please sir." The dog begged as he stepped forward. He didn't want to lose his mate due to some freak accident, or the misplaced hand of a unique human. The male dog would prefer to be a living ornament than have to lose his mate. Cleo had stopped struggling and was now only glaring at the man that had approached them. She would prove to be hostile until she was either captured or received food for her empty, raging belly. Hearing the human's question, Demetri looked up and wagged his tail slowly. "Food, sir?" The dog sounded hopeful. Even the hostile female's eyes seemed to soften at the mention of food. It seemed as the promise of food was the key to getting to a frightened beast's heart and soul.

The absol and the houndoom watched passively at the exchange, content in the capacity of observers. Fiuth looked down at the pair with a slight twinge of interest in the duo, but it was Orchid that had the more noticeable reaction. She gave a derisive bark of laughter as Cleo found her progress halted, and sneered at the male. "The hell are you, a dog or an insect? Groveling at the feet of a man who trapped your mate, begging for your lives. Where's your spine? Where's your heart?" The treog scoffed. "You don't even deserve his attention, you should be gone from this place and slink back into the slums like the-'
"Enough, Orchid. I do not ask for your words." The plant-dog glared up at Fiuth, whose steely gaze met the stare match-for-match. Soon enough the treog looked away, and the military administrator returned his attention to the two furfrou. "You two have been ill-treated by this city, and you are in a pitiable state. I happen to like dogs, and I cannot stand to see you two this way. If you care to follow, I will buy you some food for the afternoon. Whatever you wish to do after is your business." With a wave of his hand the man turned and started walking towards a nearby diner, his pack following. Cleo would find the air relinquishing its grasp and becoming thin enough to move easily once again.
Erebus turned his gaze on the pair before they moved. "Opportunity wasted is a nail in the coffin of those unworthy to chase it. If I were you, I'd follow behind with no more conflict. This isn't a chance you'll get again." The absol turned back and padded after the rest, leaving his words to linger with the pair.
