Red lay on the grass in one of the small valleys of the mountains he called home. He was staring up at the sky and counting the flying Pokémon that went by. His head rested on the back of Hound as the ever loyal canine watched for any approaching persons of interest. It was rare that they got visitors as they lived a wonderfully secluded life with wild pokemon. In fact, as long as Red has lived there, nobody has visited him. That doesn't bother him, the mountains, while a much colder environment than the city or the desert, are peaceful.
Red actually fell asleep there on the grass. Hound just rolled his eyes, it was indeed a lazy day, but Blast had thought they were all growing lazy and Hound had to admit he could see why, there was no adversary, no goal to fight towards now, just a Kanto Champion in what could be called a long and boring retirement. It could be they were all craving the thrill of a battle again. Their small war in defeating Team Rocket and the first event in Red's memory had left all of them rather... much like mercenaries out of work. Hound did his best to keep attentive but nothing was happening besides a gentle breeze and skipbloom floating by. If this were a horror movie it would be the perfect time to reveal the villain in a traditional jump scare.
Hound found himself hoping for that moment, a possible jump straight into battle. Though Red might send out Blast first as the water type had been grating on his nerves something awful lately. Saur had slightly similar problems, monotony was static, and they weren't ready for it. Chances are, Red would never be ready for peace. He was stuck trying to find the past and the one who could maybe help him reach it.

He felt cold.
Tired, cold, weak and weary. Like if he didn't get away he was just going to collapse and get crushed by the weight of everything that was bearing down on him.
It was too much, it really was. Everything that had happened, all of the things around him that he wasn't able to stop or resist... it was enough to break even the strongest of spirits. But he didn't want to give up, not with the memory of White's tears still fresh in his mind. How could he, know what would happen if he did give up?
He certainly was not someone who could help anyone, with even the slightest of problems, find peace.
His own troubles weighed down on him with the heaviness of the entire world on his shoulders. He just wanted to fall down and give up and finally hand over the responsibility and trouble to someone else. But that wasn't the kind of person that he was-- he couldn't just let something like this go.
How troublesome.
He'd made his way out here to this desolate place in the hopes of finding some kind of peace. If he couldn't find that than he was just plain going to fall apart. But here, outside of the city, there was a soothing calmness. There was fresh air and space to breathe without worrying about everything crashing down around yourself.
Sitting down on a lonely rock, Touya closed his eyes and tried to get a grip on who he was.

Hound shifted and Red sat up to let the dark fire canine sniff about their patch of grass. Hound lifted his head and looked back at his trainer before running toward the rock. He'd smelled something and wanted to track it down. Naturally he crouched down as he got in the vicinity of his target, it wouldn't be good if they got the drop on him. Hound wagged his tail as he watched the visitor to the mountains.
Maybe he's come to visit, unlikely as it was since Red did his best to make sure nobody knew where they lived so far. There was a way to find out if he was friend or foe though. Hound leaped up onto the rock, staring down at Touya.

He wasn't expecting anyone else to be around.
So when the Houndoom, sleek black and warm, leapt up to stare down at him, he started slightly his eyes widening. What? Where had it come from? Obviously it wasn't infected because if it had been he would already be dead by now. Plus the infected were too loud and noisy to be able to sneak up on him.
Still, there was a part of himself that did not care if the dog had been friendly or not. Part of him was... He shook those thoughts away and slowly sat up. "Hey." He said slowly, looking around.
"Are you some trainer's poke'mon?" He asked after seeing no one, and turning back to the dog. How strange that there would be someone else in this lonely place.

Hound gave a very dangerous smirk and looked then over his shoulder. "We have a visitor," he barked back in the direction he'd come from. Red walked into view, placing his hand on the Houndoom's back and fishing a berry out of his bag. The hellhound twitched its tail, barely showing any sign of glee. Until Red threw it and Hound shot off like a rocket, determined to get it in his jaws before it hit the ground.
Red's eyes focused on Touya, looking the other over to see the state of his visitor. He was looking for easy to spot things like starvation and a lack of changes of clothes. It was a long way to get up the mountain if you did not fly.
Hound returned with the berry in his jaws and sat at Red's heels obediently. He munched on his berry as Red circled their surprise guest. "This is my trainer, and I want to know how you managed to get all the way up here on foot."
Red tapped two fingers sharply on Hound's snout and the canine quieted. Red made a few hand gestures at the pokemon.
"Oh, right I should introduce us first. I'm Hound, and this is Red," the hellhound explained.
Red's practically blank eyes focused on Touya's as he offered a hand up off the rock. Of course he wasn't likely to take the stranger to his home without knowing about him first. So they'd have to get a few things out of the way. Such as why Red wasn't exactly bundled warm enough for wandering outside on a mountain. Though that could be explained by the fact that Hound is a fire type and therefore a natural heat source.
