The Basics of Pokemon:
This post just has some helpful links for those new to Pokemon. This includes the following: type match-ups, some world information, information on battling, a listing of all current Pokemon, and some basic information about items. Please remember the following: we strive for realism in battle. An Earthquake will do a lot of damage. A Caterpie is in trouble when against the Steelix; level does not really matter. You aren't required to read any of the links below.

Pokemon: Capture and Battling
It's a dog eat dog world out there! Remoor is a hot-spot for battling, training, and capturing Pokemon. Many people make their living off of Pokemon fights and by using their powers in business. The onset of the Bounty System, has made battling even more vital in Remoor's society. We strive for realism in battling. Levels indicate experience and little more. A Caterpie, no matter its level, will have a hard time against a Steelix. A plant type will burn.
How Can you Obtain a Pokemon?
Remoor has four ways in which you can obtain a new Pokemon: - Put it in your profile - You can only do this when first creating a character. During the character creation process, you are allowed to select a team of Pokemon for your trainer. This just has to make sense for their rank, battling prowess, and age. You can be anything from a beginning trainer to a former-champion.
- Buy them in the shop - While it varies depending on type of Pokemon, such as coloration, you can purchase them in our member shop. The title of this bullet links to a list of prices.
- Capture them in a moderated thread - This method is free. You just need to create a thread, anywhere on the board, and tag it [MOD]. A moderator will post with a randomly generated Pokemon. There are no guarantees that you will get what you want.
- Trade and breeding - You can also swap Pokemon with other players. This practice, in a realm where most Pokemon is highly intelligent, is frowned upon.
What levels can I have?
Remoor does not make you start at ground-zero like most other Pokemon RPGs. Below are some criteria, and guidelines, for determining your Pokemon's levels. - Age- No one under age forty, without good reason, will have a Pokemon over level eighty. Those levels take years of concentration to reach. Trainers begin their journeys on Remoor at sixteen. Many children though, allowed to battle in their own neighborhoods, receive their first Pokemon as toddlers.
- Pokemon can be expensive - Someone who is dirt poor may have a harder time affording a larger team. They may also lack the time to train it.
- Occupation - Someone who battles professionally will have higher levels than someone who does not.
- The Pokemon themselves - If a Pokemon despises battling, or violence, it is unlikely to be of a very high-level.
How do I Level up?
We have a leveling system that uses words as experience points. It is a very simple system. - When to count the words - If any type of battling occurs, even if its just a single line, include the post towards experience. Count them only after the battle has been completed.
- What happens if I lose the battle? - If you lose the battle, you merely half the word count you calculated.
- Can I train by myself? - You certainly can. Just post a thread and indicate, somehow, that it's for training purposes.
[/b][/size] If you have a post where one Pokemon has battled, or attacked another, please count your words. When finished, add up the words of all your battle-related posts. When done, please look at the below chart, and do the math. The higher leveled your Pokemon are, the more words you need to level up. Think of words as experience points.
If you win the battle, your word count stays the same, but if you lose, it will be halved. We will go according to this list:
To get from level 1 to 2 - 100words. To get from level 2 to 3 - 125 words. To get from level 3 to 4 - 150 words. To get from level 4 to 5 - 175 words. To get from level 5 to 6 - 200 words. Pokemon and Culture
People and Pokemon differ widely on many fronts; they still have a wide range of personalities to accompany these traits. This post will try to cover the basics of these differences.
Available Pokemon in Remoor
- We allow every Pokemon under the sun to be owned by trainers (except for legendaries). Remoor, once a tourist destination, has been subject to a lot of migration. Its temperate climate is friendly to most Pokemon types .
- The following, after the infection, are the rarest types of Pokemon: water-types, normal-types, dragon-types, and fairy-types.
- Pokemon come in a variety of colors and pelts.
- Spliced Pokemon, those of two different species, can sometimes be found in the wild.
Pokemon and Language
- Many Pokemon in Remoor are bilingual. They speak their native tongue, which usually consists of animal-like noises, and the the human tongue. Some Pokemon choose not to learn to speak the latter; they feel they should not be forced to. The amount of mastery over human languages varies from Pokemon to Pokemon.
- Body language is key in Pokemon conversations.
- Pokemon often refer to themselves in terms that fit their respective animals. For example, a male Persian (a cat) will be referred to as a tom.
- Many human terms have been adopted into their languages
Pokemon and Diets
- Herbivores eat plants. Carnivores eat meat. Humans have come up with ways, using science, to supplement both diets. Pokemon, outside of the wilds, rarely eat one another.
- Berries, while not overly healthy for Pokemon, are a favored food.
- Just like humans, Pokemon have a variety of allergies.
- Whether inside or outside of their Pokeball, Pokemon are required to eat at least once every two or three days. They can lose or gain weight depending on the frequency of meals.
Pokemon: Life-spans and Family
- Pokemon age at varying rates. Some, especially those who live a long-time, grow slower. Others mature much faster. Most of this is left up to personal judgment of the RPer. Nearly all Pokemon, including things like bugs, live at least fifty-years.
- Pokemon are much more comfortable with sexual behavior. All types of sexuality have been documented.
- Eggs, which hatch into baby Pokemon, only emerge one at a time.
- Pokemon vary in the amount of time spent raising their young. Reptilian ones, just like in the real world, spend a lot less time on parenting.

Pokemon in Society
The last large Pokemon society died many eons ago; it has been lost to the sand. While legendaries are still considered deities, all other Pokemon have a long way to go. They have been pushed to integrate into human society. There have been a lot of bumps along the way.
Pokemon Rights
- Capture - Pokemon are allowed to be captured if wild; it is believed that it ultimately helps them prosper. Trainers are not allowed to steal Pokemon. Capturing of employed or independent Pokemon, indicated by licenses and various clothing articles, is strictly forbidden.
- Property - Pokemon can own things. It is just hard for them to get a job and hold onto it. Many people still, deep inside, think of them as animals. Many people figure they can just live outside; they sometimes think those who desire housing as greedy.
- Crimes - Pokemon are protected from the following: rape, murder, abuse and theft. Sometimes, where humans are involved, these areas get grey. Punishments for crimes on Pokemon are often less than that same crime for humans.
- Freedom - They are allowed to fight and appeal for freedom from an abusive trainer.
Pokemon Occupations
There are a lot of jobs that Pokemon cannot do. Psychic-types, especially humanoid ones, are the best at adjusting to a human-ran society. - Available Jobs - They are rarely in positions of power; most humans would be promoted over an equally-skilled Pokemon. The most common positions are the following: things involving their elements, guards, messengers, and interrogators. There is a Pokemon in the head-administration at Pravus.
- Pay for Honest work - They are paid a lot less. Many Pokemon, having no care for money, are paid with food or board.
- Life in the wild - Pokemon outside human society often have an easier time in life. They just need to fight their own kind for survival. They mostly survive on a system of trade and barter.
- Science - Many Pokemon are used in experiments. Some of them volunteer; most do not.
Misc. Information
- Pokemon as food - It is highly-illegal to devour Pokemon. In many parts of the world, including Remoor, it is considered a delicacy. Many trainers still use Pokemon meat (though they face a huge jail sentence for it). Most people are vegetarian. Those who are not, eat the meat of mundane thing such as cows and chickens..
- Pokemon and crime - A lot of Pokemon commit crimes. They turn to theft, murder, and mercenary work.
- PRM (The Pokemon Rights' Movement)- Growing in power, with so many Pokemon in one place, this group is trying to pressure the law to acknowledge their rights. It has a terrorist faction.
